How do you in-laws compare?

My in-laws are in town for my son's wedding. My mother-in-law is nosy and always has to say something about a topic even if it doesn't pertain to her. My father-in-law sits in the chair all day, reading a book, while others are busy at work. I'll be glad when they are out of my house.

That comment is revealing - what is he hurting? He's staying out of the way so what is there for you to control in his behavior? It's easy to allow resentment to become bitter and does no good.

It's your choice whether you are gracious and kind and treat them with respect because they are your in-laws - or whether you feel put upon and let everyone know you are not happy.

They will leave in time - show respect for your spouse by being kind to his family. Find something to like in each of them and focus on that.

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.
