For the most part, they just included some limited enterprise support. They CLAIM that you also get better vista support. YEECH! They CLAIM that, over premium, you get better XP support BUT, the ALSO have a FREE download for premium that supposedly adds such support. For the most part doubt the average user would see any benefit.

    Hey Neil
I doubt you are looking to spend retail.
I have purchased 2 NIB WIN 7 Ultimate on eBay for $110 and both legit sold
    by Ingram Micro (Software Wholesaler).
    (Full versions not upgrades)
You just have to be careful:
Buy from respected sellers and make sure you check the Disks when
    you get them.
Don't install before you have checked the disks, most of the time it will
only register as a fake after the first major update.
There is a great video on youtube that shows you how to tell the difference
    between fake and legit disks.

    Good Luck
    Cheers

That would be interesting. MANY software/hardware companies FORBID distributors to sell to consumers. Borland for example. I wanted to become a distributor for them and they told me I could NOT sell to consumers. Of course, to be a wholesaler, you ALSO had to commit to a large stock. AND, last I knew, ingram required an ACCOUNT and, in California, a sales tax/use permit. WOW, their site says the SAME thing *I* just said! GO FIGURE:

      Ingram Micro: Resellers: Join Us

They say only FIVE states don't need a tax permit. And texas isn't one of those states!

BTW Microsoft FORBIDS selling OEM versions to consumers, unless a system is purchased at the same time. ****ALSO**** Microsoft FORBIDS selling to DEALERS, or even manufacturers, EVEN DELL, unless they have an OEM account with microsoft! I actually used to be a microsoft OEM! Softsel and ingram refused to sell to me until I got an OEM number.

      Hey Steve

You are probably correct RE: Microsofts regulations.
All i can tell you is that iv'e purchased twice on eBay, the software was legit and both boxes had the yellow Ingram Micro labels with product#, barcode etc..

Regarding OEM versions, i recall Microcenter selling OEM Windows OS not so long ago. Even now you can get OEM versions without buying a PC, checkout Tigerdirect and Newegg.

Well, the ingram labels may be there without THEM selling them. Last I knew, legit sellers like tigerdirect and newegg at least tried to use what they saw as a loophole by offering it with a drive or motherboard. And, of course, with a new system is fine.

It is like the "educational" software! Many companies, INCLUDING MICROSOFT, FORBID its sale unless it is to a valid student or teacher. Heck, one store turned my step mother down, who DID teach at a school, but they didn't consider it legit as it wasn't a regular college or university, etc... STILL, you can find people selling the stuff at computer shows. They often cover up the area that says educational ONLY with a price sticker or something. They WOULD sell OEM stuff instead except that some stuff isn't OEM, and OEM comes with smaller manuals and no cute packaging. The educational is generally identical to retail, outside of the label, authorization requirement, and license restrictions.
