OK, what do YOU call crass?

My mother died earlier, and I tried to get her cremains(Mortician speak for ashes leftover from cremation). Well, the jerk had me in her office, I guess I should have seen SOMETHING up with that! Anyway, she started a spiel to try to sell me funeral insurance! You know, it is funny. My father used to sell insurance, and he used to talk about jerks like this. Anyway, I said I had limited time, and didn't know how much I had, so I said I had to get this done NOW! She continued on implying that she was taking HER contrived, deceitful, and GREEDY, mindset and trying to apply it to the reality I conveyed. I said NO, I am NOT talking years, weeks, or even DAYS, I am talking hours or even MINUTES! I need to leave to get this in TODAY!

She kept trying to sell me a $50/month 3 year policy. I even told her YOU say $50, and I just think $1800. She FEIGNS ignorance saying "How do you figure?". I said $50*12*3=1800! I mean any insurance person worth their salt would have known that SECONDS after hearing about the insurance plan. Insurance agents almost ALWAYS try to sell you on how CHEAP insurance is based on what you get.

Anyway, the government paid for my mothers cremation, they will certainly pay for mine. I currently have 100s of thousands that the government may just take. Even my bank account has enough money. So WHY save the government maybe $600, that they would probably take ANYWAY, and give that jerk $1200 for delaying my departure. If she sold me on the plan, I would buy it elsewhere.

BTW How much time did I have to "waste"? Maybe 10 MINUTES! I was late getting to the postoffice, so I have to send it out on monday. Another day GONE, well, at least a couple hours.

First off Steve, - My condolences.

That being said, you are absolutely right in your feelings. That was very crass.

Though these 3 words all begin with the same root,
there is a time for condolence, - a time to console, - and not a time to consult.
This person was forcing the latter when she should have been offering the former.

It appears she does not know the difference between consult, and insult.
That is a clear definition of crass.

    My condolences also Steve.

... and I agree this woman was a douche bag.

One step away from crass is gross.

Sorry Steve, my condolences as well. She sounds absolutely repulsive! No respect for anyone... other than her own greediness.

    My condolences to you man.

I'm surprised you didn't put the Tombstone Piledriver in her. (Apologies for the pun)

Steve - my condolences again. I'm afraid that you showed much more reserve than she would have seen from me. Nobody should be expected to remain civil when listening to a predator.

Yeah, I didn't mention, but implied. There is a family burial area in Dover New Hampshire. Apparently, a patriarch of her family practically founded the place, and they got the best part. It sounds nice. Anyway, she has contacted a cousin a lot, and the cousin would basically like to get this done ASAP. The quicker I can be sure all is fine, the better. And I will only be in this area another week.

Reminds me of when my mother died. The obit had no sooner hit the paper when a monument company called me trying to sell me a headstone. I left no doubt in the callers mind exactly what I thought of him and his practice of trolling the obituaries looking for sales ... and it wasn't good.

    Some people just suck.

    (Condolences again, Steve.)
