The OP's point is well-taken, but it's also true that 100% of the people who opened this thread surely felt immediate disappointment of some kind. Subject lines obviously make a difference, but when they deceive the reader or play a trick of some kind, you've just gone from trusted husband to a guy with lipstick on his collar.

Love the topic of sex in marketing and advertising, though. Sex is everywhere, especially in places that would be deny it, i.e. TV news networks who pride themselves on "journalism" when they they all hire clearly on sex appeal. Beauty holds more sway than intelligence in this world, and three other things come to mind on this topic:

1. I've heard it said that it's generally better to have a woman in your banner ads or header graphics to sell or visually present your products because men are attracted to them and women find other women less threatening and more comfortable with them. True? I also read a study that said on dating sites such as Plentyoffish that a woman's profile will get more responses if she looks directly at the camera because men like the sincerity and want the feeling that the woman is listening to them . . . while a man's profile will get more responses if he looks AWAY from the camera because women find it too threatening if the man is looking straight at them.

2. You'll also notice that in all fitness products and infomercials it's absolutely required that the demonstrating person using the equipment always be SMILING when they're doing the exercise.

3. The Cialis TV commercial in which the guy is throwing a football through a tire. C'mon, really?

The funny thing is that you can scroll your mouse over the title and see what the first two or so lines says and it didn't say anything about sex. Despite knowing that, something in my brain said I must click the link anyway. Inherent dirtiness is the best.

The title caught my attention. However, I only opened it because it was written by Brian. Had it been written by someone I didn't know or respect....I probably wouldn't have bothered.

My point....titles need to be good but....so does your reputation.

Now I do like the concept of thinking. But I can say that I created a thread 1 day after this thread was created about "facts" and the thread now has about the same amount of comments and about -100 views.

It's interesting because it shows that controversial information is clicked much more than anything else that I have tested. People like the unknown and the explicit I suppose, even if they don't say so

lol This was entertaining. It's an extreme example, but you do make the point about what a difference a headline/subject makes. This is applicable to the thought that should go into the titles of articles you submit to article directories & Twitter posts & such - anything really, that's driving traffic.

I clicked with a twinge of hope & was let down. I was more surprised by the total lack of sex than I would have been had this thread been a gangbang-style open group cybersex chat history. 99% of us probably clicked on this expecting to see some titties ( o Y o ) or at LEAST humorous anecdotes addressing the question of whether or not size matters.
