Just when I'm about get a life......I discover the delights of IM!!

So it transpires that after 4 years of uni, 6 months in the world of work, a few months of travelling and then another year in Uni I was about to get some form of life back! I've just qualified as a teacher, but with no job lined up for September (ignore what they say on the TV adverts about turning your talents to teaching, there's no jobs!) and still a bit of the old University grant left, I could theoretically start to enjoy some free time.

Seriously spend time developing my guitaring skills, learn the latest technologies to stay in touch with the times, go out with friends like the later teenage years, meet that nice, elusive girl my mum so desperately wants me to meet and just generally get some stability in my life yet also some excitement.

And then as I'm looking around for things to do to pass up my time, I stumble upon the Warrior Forum, and that seems to be my newfound freedom over!

For the last month I've been reading and learning and developing websites to try and get myself off the ground running within IM, and it has been enjoyable. But all those other things have just gone by the wayside! I go out one evening a week to the pub with a couple of mates and thats about my social life complete. No time to arrange to meet with females, or play guitar for more than an hour a day. Days seem to fly by without so much as a blink of the eyes, and even then I've only completed half of my To Do list!

Hopefully, in some months' time I'll start to see some of my efforts paid off, hoping I have targeted some decent niches and keywords. "But is it worth sacrificing that social life and enjoyment?", I seem to be questioning myself.

I think that, by the end of a productive week this week, I can allow myself to slow down a little from the IM work I am doing (sometimes its all day, non stop) and maybe take some time to do other things, get out abit and enjoy life.

Anyone else fallen into this kinda trap? Maybe not so much that it's overtaken your social life, but maybe it gripped you more than you'd ever thought that it might?

Dunno why I really wrote this, maybe just needed to let it out my system. Job done!

    Hey,

    Good post!

Yes a lot of people find themselves in this position. If you get started on IM the right way and start making some money (without burning out) you just get hooked on to it.

I remember around 2 years ago I used to spend 8-10 hours on this forum everyday, reading pretty much every new post as it came out.

Has my social life suffered? Yep.

But has online marketing and this forum been worth it? Definitely!

    It's not a trap.

    It's progress! :p

Don't you socialize on facebook? Facebook is an example of real lives being profiled so that people may find you. As a result, some people have lost their jobs because of what they said about their boss online, or posted pictures of themselves doing irresponsible things, or had their loyalty to their company questioned.

What does this have to do with IM? Well, if people can lose their livelihood over the internet, the same applies to IM.

We socialize in IM too you know and most of us wouldn't be here if we didn't enjoy IM.

For some people IM, is their lifeboat. They weren't fortunate enough to have a choice but they still socialize and enjoy their lives albeit differently.

And doing IM is the quickest path to financial independence. Have you heard anyone say they would like to enjoy their riches when they are old?

I have seen a few foreigners walking around town, most of them are financially independent due to their pensions, but they are still old. Too old to enjoy the things money can buy. The way I see it is that they sacrificed their youth and time slaving away for somebody else.

Keep it up man! Your hard work will pay off - but do pace yourself. Once you find something that works for you, do X amount of it each day, then I would suggest going out, finding a Meetup.com group just to be able to step away, and hopefully network as well. No matter how good you are, results are never instant. I believe the main ingredient is consistency. A little bit each day for months or years will give you more experience than a lot at once and then doing nothing for a few weeks. You have to learn and try new stuff all the time. But I must agree, this is an excellent forum!
