The BBC has an interesting article and short video at:

BBC News - Magnetic mysteries of Earth's Core

The video was a bit disappointing, but the article itself relates to some previous, ongoing discussions in this forum, so I thought I'd share this with anyone who might be interested in this topic.

Actually that was a pretty interesting article.

I didn't realize someone had gone down into the earth 7and 1/2 miles (roughly) (12 KM).

Which is roughly 1 mile deeper than the (known) deepest part of the ocean (Mariana Trench) off the Philippines.

The BBC is quickly becoming one of my favorite news sources.

    Thanks for posting it.

Pretty cool article. I've always been fascinated by the Earth's core, very interesting topic. It must have taken some pretty powerful machinery to dig that far down, that's incredible.
