We are experts OR We are expertise?

WTH??

Can someone please explain to me why a customer wants so badly to name "We are expertise" instead of "We are experts"?

    Just a creative differentiation on an often used term. While it's not completely grammatically correct, it is individual enough to get attention and make themselves stand out just a tad. If that's what they want - let em do it.

      "Expertise" is the skill an "expert" has.

      We are expertise is incorrect - and makes the person look as if he has poor English or poor education.

    Not exactly Kay. It is incorrect, but it's an emphatic change of word usage. They have changed expertise from an adjective to a noun. Yes. But if you flesh it out, as in "we don't just have expertise, we ARE expertise" you can see where their mind is going with it.

    I'm seeing from the comments here though that the dramatic shift probably won't work for em in this case.

    This was a translation issue from a site we developed. The translator did a wonderful work - as usual - but the customer insisted "his" friend (a native Brit living in the Algarve) detected some "errors" - and this was one of them.

    The original text was "We are experts in THIS and THAT" but now (after the native error detection) we read: "We are expertise in THIS and THAT".

    What a day.
