$12 bread - blast from the past
I found a bakery in PA that sells salt rising bread online. I was raised on SR bread toast as a kid and it's impossible to find it these days.
The bread is made with a starter and is tricky to get right so I've never bothered to make it myself. The bread itself is heavy and dense with a little tang to it.
Took a chance and ordered one loaf and, with shipping, it was expensive bread. But - oh, is it good!
Anyone else here remember salt rising bread?
