Hi, apparently the software engineers when developing Windows XP, and 7, planted a hidden piece of code that plays a streamlined version of Star Wars in ASCII code.

I would recommend turning the sound off, and it goes for about 20 minutes, there is also versions on YouTube with sound, but the video quality is terrible.

Just click on the link, it is pretty crappy, but it does have it's moments, not many though?

And if you have XP, here is the website with instructions on how to see it. For people with Windows 7, don't bother trying, apart from the prompt box not appearing, you could seriously cripple the Operating System, trying to get it too work. Definitely not recommended, especially when you can just watch it on YouTube.

Watch Hidden Star Wars in Windows XP, Vista and 7

Enjoy.

That is completely incorrect. This has nothing to do with Windows.

For those who are interested, just use your favorite telnet client and go to towel.blinkenlights.nl

There you will see a depiction of the movie Star Wars in ASCII.

Again, this is not a feature of Windows. The movie does not reside on your computer. Rather it can be accessed using ANY operating system via telnet at towel.blinkenlights.nl

that was awesome! LOL I wonder how long it took them to do all that. Thought the part about this video being connected to Windows OS in any way is obviously a fail..

I agree with you, (if you still exist) it isn't connected to W7, (ummm 2011, probably Windows XP) but eventhough this post tops ancient post bumping, it is still a good video.
