Yeah, I live in Brazil (near Rio) and know about it.

They captured a few aliens about a week ago.

I remember that the press called them...

    Politicians

They definitely are from another world then the rest of us mortals.

It never fails to amaze me that some people shun the possibility of ET life.

I can only assume that those people have no comprehension of the size of the universe. I'm not a trekky by any means, but I am logical.

To assume that we are the only ones in the universe is surely the most naive opinion any person could ever hold.

As a race we're severely boxed in our thinking fuelled by taboo, fear of ridicule and general conformity. It's this very same affliction which hinders our potential for advancement.

Yeah, I'm thinking we aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer when it comes to universal life forms -- but I've got a pretty good idea we are the most egocentric.

Our earliest transmissions would only be about 70 light years away. Unless they already know about us or catch us in a drive-by it may be some time before we receive a visit.

Oh I believe there is life elsewhere in the universe, I wouldn't be surprised at all if there was abundant life out there, and I wouldn't be surprised if there was intelligent life out there.

That doesn't mean they're visiting earth. Considering the vast size that you cite as a probability for life elsewhere, that same size is also a probable barrier to them visiting this planet.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, as Carl Sagan used to say. Show me the extraordinary evidence.

It never ceases to amaze me that anyone can believe that aliens exist. I don't lean on logic however to base that opinion on either. I prefer to lean on faith. I have never seen any evidence in my life here on this planet to ever have reason to doubt the source of my faith either.

You may be forced to re-examine your ideas on this one real soon. This is NASA talking - not the Nat'l Enquirer. There were a lot of news sources for this - but because people are highly suspicious of news links - I got the ones straight from the horse's mouth.

Hope it works. Some scientists think it's possible that Some of our viruses were transported here by meteors. That's one of the things they look for when studying meteors. To actually find bacteria that was not just some that infiltrated after it landed here is pretty exciting scientifically. I know there has been serious discussion of DNA being of an extraterrestrial origin. Water as well. We know for a fact that some meteors and comets contain ice (until they get into the atmosphere where most burn, so the water dissapates)

The way I see it, there are a few reasons that alien life forms would ever bother with us. One is if their own planet was in trouble and they were seeking other places to inhabit. We're gonna need our own extra planet soon ourselves at the rate we're going. Our sun is getting old, so sooner or later, we either ditch out to a new star system or we're toast ourselves. And several thousand years after we inhabit somewhere else, people who suggest that we're from elsewhere will cause shock and be told their clothing is made of tinfoil.

People who completely disbelieve that an alien can visit us need to remember that WE are in space and WE are studying other planets. If we could go further, faster - do you think we wouldn't be looking for resources elsewhere? They are already studying water on other planets. We've ruined most of ours. How long will it be before they devise a way to bring water or minerals back from elsewhere? What happens if we find another planet that can be mined for resources we're running out of. You don't think we'd go there and start mining? We would end up creating a new civilization if we started mining and transporting from another planet. All we need is the transport and they will find a place for us to exploit. We aren't that far from it. We can devise transport - all that's left to deal with is the issue of time.

I know this idea goes beyond many people's religious persuasions -- but scientifically, it's not so unrealistic. All that's needed and required is the means of transport. If we find that - you will see US being alien invaders on other planets - especially if they are mineral or water rich. If you think the transport is impossible - think of how people would have thought of you 500 years ago when you suggested that there were space shuttles or space stations. They would have locked you up and thrown away the key.

The probability of life in the universe is very high according to the Mathematical model.

Advanced life forms could be say a million years more advanced than us humans.
to us they would be Gods.

Actually, believeing in "other life" in our universe, and believeing in God and Angels and Demons, are basically the same exact thing.

Both require a faith to believe in something we have never seen with our own eyes.

The only difference is, some believe that there are Aliens, but NOT an INTELLIGENT CREATOR... does that make much sense to you?

So what.. now you tell me maybe aliens created us? LOL

And some like me choose to believe there is an intelligent creator, and that He made Man in HIS image, and that the human race was his greatest creation, ABOVE any other.

To me it seems pretty naive to believe that there would be aliens but not believe that there would be a God.

Wow, so I guess you must be an athiest? Not to turn this into a religious debate, but many choose to believe the Bible, that doesn't make them naive, and has nothing to do with conformance or taboo. It is simply a belief based on faith and also history since the Bible truly is the oldest historical document ever passed down from our ancestors.

That being said, I personally don't believe we are the only "entities" in the universe since God clearly stated that he created Angels also. Some of which are now Demons.

So, if you ask me, it's pretty obvious that any type of "alien" is nothing more than a trick by Satan, the great deceiver.

Just sharing my opinions, I am sure many will agree.

Actually - this sounds like it is a conversation that should be taken up with Ezekiel or the Sumerians.

And actually - the bible is not the oldest. I have yet to hear if the older religions (Hindu, Buddhism) allow for the idea alien life visiting us. It would be interesting to know if someone can post a simple yes, its possible according to our books, or no it's not possible without becoming dogmatic and discussing the whys, phrases and other opinions that get the subject banned.

While I think that it is allowed to point out that you are a certain religion and that your beliefs are resultant from your faith, we aren't allowed to discuss the presumptions of our correctness based on the dogmas of that religion. Judging someone an atheist because of your own views goes way over the line and is one of the reasons religion is banned here.

If you can't keep off the dogma train - take a bus.

I've seen that show before. Here's what I could never figure out. The researchers on that show are clearly well educated and sound credible. And they believe that:

    1. There are aliens and they have traveled to earth many times over the centuries.

    2. There is evidence that they have crashed their ships in many different places all across the world.

Does it strike anyone else as odd that a highly intelligent alien species far more advanced than us has journeyed millions of lightyears through space, overcoming radiation, asteroids, supernovas ...

And yet they crash and burn on earth because they what...

    Ran out of fuel?

Can't seem to overcome the atmosphere over places like Roswell, New Mexico?

Relied too heavily on GPS again?

Ok, I guess I just don't get it. At least with this story, it would seem that the aliens have finally advanced to the degree that they can now effectively stick the landing. Now if they could only figure out how to avoid Brazilians once they get here ... (shakes head)

You know what they say, Jeff - sh** happens. We don't know if we are the only planet they nose dived.

There are a lot of questions any time this subject comes up - but I can't see why it would be such a strange idea to anyone that they might be around. I don't believe that our leaders are lizards from space, but I do believe it's highly possible that we've had some aliens around - at least passing through. Just because they get here doesn't mean we were their destination. And just because we haven't figured out how to do certain things, doesn't mean that they haven't. Just look back to what we knew and could do just one hundred years ago and compare it to now. If aliens had a similar boom -- say 500 years ago, just think how far ahead of us they would already be. They'd know stuff we don't even know there is to know yet just that fast.

      Well, that's reassuring. Just kidding.

Actually, I agree with you, Sal. I don't believe I'm so close-minded as to completely discount the possibility of aliens. Statistically, scientists believe it's more than likely.

It just always seemed funny to me that the ancient alien theorists are spending an inordinate amount of time telling people that icons like Jesus, Buddha, Muhammad, Krishna ... they all must be myths.

But, super kamikaze death-wish aliens ... now that just has to be true.

I dunno, makes me smile for some reason.

Extraterrestrial: Of or from outside the earth.

Aliens that slam their spacecraft into the earth at Mach 5 and shatter it into a million little pieces: extremely, extremely terrestrial.

It's already been done (1978) by Doug Adams and is called "The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy."

There is a UFO story I may have told here before. A fellow I knew (he is now deceased) used to create "UFOs" by crossing two balsa wood sticks in an X shape, connecting them with a straight pin, and putting a small birthday cake candle on the end of the pin.

His sons would help him attach a gossamer thin plastic bag - like the kind your dry cleaner puts over you clean clothes. He would light the candle. Then he and the sons would get three of these things going all at the same time and release them in a triangular formation.

Then he and the kids would go turn on the police scanner to listen to the calls. Somebody would always call the news stations, and get video of the alien invasion.

            But it's already Tuesday there...c'mon...

I think this one has some credibility. When Jesus spoke to the demon possessed man the demons responded, "we are legion". In other words there were many of them in the man. There has been an interesting discussion in some quarters that raises the question of ET's being something out of the demonic realm, perhaps out of another dimension?

Of course, no one really seems to know the answer but I throw it in the mix to see if any others have ever heard of that idea.

Visit SETI(dot)com to see their studies about aliens. They believe that aliens do not exist. I don't know if I will believe them or not. But they've made some studies that somehow convincing.

I hope I live long enough to see an alien one day, would be pretty amazing. I'm sure they must exist, there are too many other planets in the universe.

This is all a psychological operation in my opinion. I believe aliens exist but have they ever visited earth? Very doubtful, especially to the extent which people claim, every year there are thousands of reported UFO sightings. I don't believe any of them, you have to seriously doubt these lifeforms intelligence if you think they're just hovering around our atmosphere spying on us so primitively, and for what? Rectal samples for their science? ...How dumb can some people be?

Ever since the early 50's the media has started hammering us with the possibility that aliens exist. They are the ones to have brought it up to the public in the first place, to put the fear into our minds. To capture our imagination. Why? Well listen to Ronald Reagans speech about it and note how he bends it into a psychotic idea for the planet coming together to form a new world order to combat alien invasion. Very suspicious if you ask me.

Jason - there are a lot of physicists who say the same thing.....the more they understand how things work, the more convinced they become of intelligent design.

We can't really discuss this issue though as religion is a forbidden topic because people get very explosive over anything that goes against their own religious views.

Aliens and faith aren't mutually exclusive. If you believe that God made us, then why wouldn't he make a bunch of planets with lot's of different versions. I figure he is doing some A/B testing to see which group can make it outside of their box (universe) to the next one. And also to see which ones discover enough of his design (Science) but have enough self control to not destroy what he created for us.

I mean, just because I have faith that I am the smartest person on the planet doesn't make me the actual smartest person. I am limited by the amount of data that I can acquire. Remember that the patent office was going to shut down last century because they figured nothing new could be invented. I believe that the greeks invented a term for those who think they know everything. It's called Hubris...

For us humans trying to get an understanding on the mysteries of the universe is like a dog trying to understand algebra.

How life forms exist outside of our dimension is impossible for us to understand.....we are firmly in the geocentric republic!

There have been so many debates regarding on did God really include the what you called "ALIENS" in his creation or not? Until now, bible scholars and scientists are still battling regarding on this topic.

      - Oh, I don't think God tests. Why? The bible said that he is all knowing God and he knows everything. Even the exact number of your hair! So why would he waste his time in testing something that he already know the answer?

The concept of testing something is to know if it is effective or not, successful or not, etc. And this thing is done by most people who want to know something. Meaning they don't know something about anything that's why they are conducting some testing.

Can you compare God with that? Hell no!

Interesting take on my comment. I think there are quite a few fallacies in your statements but I'm not really interested in tearing apart your comment. (Gotta make some money!!! lol)

I will say this. God may be all knowing but that also makes the assumption that he "just knows" everything. I would be willing to say he knows everything because he has been around forever. Which would mean that there is a good chance that he did some early "testing" to know all the things about everything. But I am not trying to rock your faith and I don't really want to get into a semantic's argument about the Bible. (Which is now on it's 7th revision from the original scrolls, so there might be some "telephone game" issues in the latest revision. Anytime you involve a human into the mix they change things.)

I will put it this way. A doctor has a practice, although he/she is very educated and should know everything, every time they treat a patient it's a new and evolving experience, hence the practice part. Doctors are not God's I will concede that. But having blind faith that every metaphorical word in the Bible is concrete and says exactly what it means is a risky proposition. If you wanna go that route you better study up on the dead languages so you can read it straight from the scrolls... which of course were translated by man from god... do I hear a telephone ringing? :p

We are aliens to them ! Yet we have no distinct solid evidence about whether they are malevolent or not. Yet through time they have left subtle signatures of their existence.

As for the crashed ufo`s could the occupants of these crashed ufo`s be of a lesser intelligent species, purposely sent down by the ruling force for a reason?
the Mexico incident seemed to indicate this?

We sent monkeys in to space before men tried it out.
