During the extended problems with the economy, what steps have you taken to save money? Are you more likely to turn lights off now? Do you use coupons? What else?

What has helped the most?

Been using coupons ever since. :-)
Have limited vacations and out of town trips for the family. Would be a good bonding time to look for something fun in the house like playing games and stuff or spending a good sunday at the park with home cooked foods prepared by my wife rather than going to the malls and spending hefty $$$$ for food and shopping.

Speaking of shopping, only the basics and that is that. :-)

My money is fine and doesn't need to be saved. If I don't take care of it, somebody else will.

Spend money very carefully because my salary is also very limited
so I have to see all the things to save money by ignoring my small wishes too for betterment of my future.

Best solution is to earn more

Anyway I think it is hard to save some more money if you dont want to change your life or habits. Do not buy expensive things if you dont need them and youll be fine.

I finally laid off our upstairs maid.
We live in a one-story house, so she didn't have anything to do, and wouldn't put out.
