No it's not the second coming. Just wondering what everyone thought about it. I think my favorite sit com is Mike and Molly. Give that one your 14 minute test, bet you like it.

I didn't last 14 minutes with M&M before turning the channel. It still lasted longer than the Big Bang Theory though.

Why do garden gnomes smell so bad?
So that blind people can hate them as well.

  • I watched the show last night...

Was that Kutcher's idea of "fleshing" out his character?

And they really could have given Charlie a more interesting sendoff...

They could have played that out for several shows...
Chuck Lorre must have really wanted to be done with it.

Yah, if they keep that up this program will go right down the toilet.

I like Ashton in anything, because he is a funny actor period but, well, I think his youth destroys the balance of the show. Now its 1 man, one 2/3s of one and a 1/2.

      EXACTLY.

They did not pay Charlie 13 million a month for years because it was a fluke.

Ratings and advertisers increase show income and maintains longevity.

How do million dollar writers miss that?

Shows you making Hollywood money is more about marketing than value or talent.

Whether Charlie was high or not, he was correct that they are douches.

How do you fire Charlie for being Charlie, especially if that is what feeds the future scripts?

      Duh.

The "ladies" who have a crush on Ashton is the ONLY hope that show has to stay afloat, that's why he ripped off his clothes in the first few minutes he was introduced.

Instead of 1 needy, nadless, gutless, whiney guy, NOW you got two, fantastic.

Falls right in line with the rest of the sitcoms.

So now the question is, how long can a show last with its only enticement or value is a Male eye-candy for the "ladies".

If anyone knows a show that sustained for a period because of that element, please contribute.

It will last a few years. The comedy was very similar and it's in a great time slot.

I think the show was already on the downhill. It will end up being around the same as previously and the decline won't be because of Sheen leaving but because the show has been on for a while and was close to ending already.

First of all, very few sitcoms last as long as 2 1/2 Men already has so let's not be too hard on Ashton is the show doesn't remain a success.

Second, it's a hard road to replace the (by far) main character on a successful show. It's rarely successful.

Third, most first episodes of TV series stink. It takes a few episodes for the actors to settle into their roles. While this isn't a new series in title, it kind of is without Sheen.

In any case, Ashton is a very funny guy and this show won't make him or break him.

Yes, it won't make or break him.

      Funny? I don't thinks so.

He was a little funny on Punk'd , but not much else.

Guess if some people liked "Friends" and that kind of generic, non-edge, no seasoning, cutesy, made for women, un-original comedy type, then Ashton is your guy to make you laugh.

I have to admit that I didn't find tonight's episode very funny. A couple of
        chuckles but that's about it.

The first episode was better because the cast was better used and also
because Ashton didn't appear until half way through.

Tonight I'm starting to see that he just can't carry the show and unless the
writers come up with some really funny stuff for everybody else (tonight they
didn't do very well) I see this as being the last season, if it even makes it
        through the whole season.

Yeah, Ashton is no Charlie and tonight, having to appear through the whole
        show, it was glaringly obvious.

Sad. That's about all there is to say.

Look at that, and I forgot to watch it, not missing it, although I did plan to watch it to give it one more chance.

They had all season to come up with a least ONE script, for the premiere at least, to see what they could do.

All the secrecy and crap, people thinking they got something up their sleeve.

          They did, a Boston steamer.

If this is the best they can do after all this time to prepare, "fa-git a bout it."

This thread just goes to show that what's entertaining is strictly an individual choice. I think that the show is just as good as it ever was. Ashton's character is nearly a clone of Charlie. Both characters have tons of financial and romantic success without trying. The attraction to me of the show is the contrast between that and how hard Alan tries to achieve the same things and consistently fails.

But that's just my opinion. For me it's as entertaining as ever. I realize that others will disagree. Different individuals have different tastes. No big deal! It's just a way to escape for a half hour after all.
