I watched the X Factor. At times it was unwatchable, namely because they let atrocious performances go on and on. They also need to work on their editing and pacing. But, as is often the case with talent shows, some performances shone brightly and compensated for the tedious aspects of the show. Here is such a performance:

I almost posted about this. I saw part of it. I saw about 5 people. The one they selected was bad, even though she was FAR better than any of the others. The first one was typical of them, and typical over all, so let me describe it.

You know the type! A couple with the man trying to "sing" with a very low pitch, and a woman trying to "sing" with a very high pitch. Too bad they couldn't sing, and were ugly, and even picked a song that was not even supposed to be sung that way. I think the audience and show should be able to sue for torture!

It seems so much like American Idol in a lot of ways. Simon, Paula, and a Randy look alike at the judges panel.

I saw it today. There was a girl that seemed nice, attractive, and decent. She picked a bad song, and I don't think she went far enough. They all said she had potential but needs too much work. She BEGGED them to let her stay. It's a shame that many they will accept probably won't do as well as she did.

    Payment proof,

I don't think there is ANY material difference! The SAME judges, SAME CONCEPT, done in the SAME way! WHERE is the real difference?

there's really too many of these reality talent shows/contest going around
wouldn't it be nice to gather all the champions of these shows and pit them in against each other and see who is the real champ.
it's like battle of the champions

I thought it was better last night but I'll see where it goes - I like the judges on this show. It's the kind of show that can run while I do something else and if someone good starts singing I can listen - rest I can ignore.

Think they overdid the bad acts tonight, though.

Didn't they do that with the one just before xfactor? I don't even remember it's name, but simon was THERE too. As I recall, at one point they had each countries winner play against the others.

I didn't get to see much of todays episode. My 17 month old son is showing a surprising intolerance of sub-par or off-pitch performances on X Factor. I swear, this baby is even more harsh in his judgments than X Factor judges Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid. He insisted on watching Jackie Evancho instead. Not many singers are as good as her, I know, but try to give others a little bit of leeway, sheesh. At most, the better X Factor performances distracted him for a bit before he resumed insisting on playing the Jackie Evancho "Dream With Me" video.

Give it a chance, whether you like or dislike Simon, the man knows this business. He will make it a success. The big differences are there are no age requirements and you can have groups as well as individuals. And the 5 million dollar prize.

Looks like X Factor got really bad ratings. Why else would they be firing judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger as well as host Steve Jones?
