Has anyone else deleted their FaceBook?

I just recently deleted my facebook account after having it deactivated for a good while.

I felt that it was just a big invasion of privacy when I had over 300 friends and really did not know most of them very well. I just knew of them or went to school with them.

I can see its allure but posting my whole life story or a play by play account is just not me.

Some people are just crazy and make themselves look bad on FB also. How about those that are chronically in and out of relationships. Or those that spill their drama onto everyones wall.

No thank you I am done.

I still have mine - I know people who delete it and then start again and all their previous info is still there!

Facebook does some amazing data mining - who knows what info they are gathering on all of us

I still have mine as well. I use it for more marketing purposes now than personal. Even though I do know all the people on my facebook some of them can say some weird things at time.

I'm very close to now they make you log in for messages/updated instead of informing you via email. It's my understanding though that once registered you can't actually fully delete it. All your info/pics remain there somewhere in FB land your email is just 'deactivated'.

I "deleted" mine a while back. Only to receive a message "if you come back, your account will be intact and all info saved" - thanks for nothing -

Be sure then to delete all your information BEFORE you 'delete' your Facebook account - (I learned this after the fact).

Among other things it was the facial recognition software that scared me off.

The biggest turn-off to me is that social network sites are the biggest spammers on the Internet. Not a day goes by without an 'invitation' from people I never heard of to join them on this or that network. Whatever happened to 'ethical permission based' emailing?

This is not even to mention when some miscreant puts your address to receive updates on everything they do - on our helpdesk (in our suspended/blacklist mode) I can get 10 a day from one person, 'NumbNuts added a picture, NumbNuts commented on DimWit's profile, NumbNuts this and that.

I can see using it for business only - but the idea of sharing your private information - birthdays, kids pictures etc is positively bone chilling in this day of stalkers and identity thieves. Remember all they need is one little piece and they can use it to put the whole picture together...

Rather than 'opting in' - you need to know to 'opt out' - this is what really pisses me off. IF you can find it and IF you even know, then you can opt out. It should be the other way around -

Facebook has 'enhanced' their privacy and security options but I still believe it falls far short of being safe.

I agree with everything you said, particularly this.

Unfortunately this is becoming the norm, and Facebook is making an art form out of it.

Being as now some companies deal with people by the millions, until this practice is outlawed, prepare to see much more of it.

The profit potential for people not reading fine print, is astronomical, even if it's a dollar a shot.

I am going to delete mine. I don't use it and my real friends know how to reach me.

After I read articles about the facial recognition like Patrician mentioned, I don't want a FB account.

I recently read an article that discussed the possibility of using FB for service of process. I know it is already used by debt collectors but to use it to post a summons and declare it proper service of process is outrageous.

It has been 2 months since i never logged in to my FB (this is coming from a ex-nutcase who used to hangout there practically 24 hours a day). One it was sucking too much off my time and #2 I hate the whining, bitching and politics that goes in there.

I am going to wait 1-2 more months, before totally killing it.

Respect to you guys who already did :-D

Haven't deleted it but might as well. I use content buzz to promote corny Youtube videos that are about as useful as an arse on an elbow; profitable though. All my Facebook friends (all 2 f them think I'm a spammer, wonder why?
