Just downloaded iOS 5. 774 MB. Considered I get billed premium for internet ($5/GB) that's $4 just to update lol.

Anyways, was a bit buggy updating but once I was finally updated, the iPhone is really cool now. I'm really liking this. I'm in the newsstand right now (magazine app). To open camera, now we just double click home twice, a lot faster for getting those moment when you need a camera fast. Sync wirelessly? Can't wait to try. So much stuff to learn, very exited.

Have you guys updated yet?

Edit: This newsstand is really expensive. $7 for a magazine? You joking?

iOS5 is pretty smooth, 3GS is running nice. Newsstand is pointless, I don't know why they even included it and it's irritating that you cannot delete it. Safari is really fast though, much faster than before. Notifications still need improvement. I'll still be jailbreaking it, as there are so many more tweaks and customizations I like that I had on the 3GS but wanted to start from a fresh slate. Battery life seems to be better as well.

JB'ing just to have SBSsettings again is well worth it

As far as WiFi synch, doesn't work, seems I'm not alone as others are reporting this. Instructions say to check wifi synch under options, however there's nothing listed under options for that. You have to buy Snow Leopard or Lion to use it.

I bet I know why they have the newstand app you can't delete! I bet it is for people like me that would like a magazine, but can't get it. It is the SAME reason airlines charge so much, hotels and cars cost so much, etc....

Which reminds me, I have to have a sandwich delivered for dinner. It fits as a joke, even though it is true.

WHY? Well, it is a dangerous drive, I don't know of good restaurants nearby, etc...

I have no idea what you just said except for the non-bolded part lol......

But regarding the mags, you can't get any mag, only apple subscriptions approved by them. And seems I'm not alone as even on the Apple forums almost everyone thinks its useless and wants it off the spring board. Last thing I want to do is read a full magazine on an iphone. I have the NYTimes to try out, but ehh.. I'd rather just google and see news going on. I can see how some people may like it, but thats a small %. The fact that it can't be deleted off the spring board is what sucks. But no idea what you mean by you can't get mags, you live in an area with no delivery or mail lol??

If your going to do digital subscriptions you may as well use Zinio which works way better.

Can't wait to jailbreak again and have my custom settings back, especially to hide that icon lol.

this post from the iOS 5 board sums it up:
Actually, it's considerably worse than "a folder for your dedicated magazine/newspaper apps."

You cannot choose which apps to place in Newsstand. If a publisher has made a deal with Apple, a subscription or purchase automatically goes in "Newsstand." (e.g. New Yorker, New York Times.) If the publisher hasn't made such a deal you cannot put it in Newsstand, (e.g. Washington Post, AP News.)

So now I have two "News" folders. One for the apps I choose that are not affiliated with Newsstand (BBC News, Flipboard, etc.) and one that has captured my paid subscription to the New Yorker. Can't move it out of Newsstand. Can't delete Newsstand even if it's empty.

Finally, the so-called "Free" apps for various magazines in Newsstand aren't actually "free." They're simply holders for in-app purchases.

All in all, it's a cheesy, intrusive feature akin to an informercial and a badly functioning one at that.
