I know that if you post in WF OT forum, your post count does not go up, but how about WSO forum?

I notice a guy who posted twice in my WSO- and he has post count of 0 still.. So, does it applies for WSO too ?

It changed (I think) a couple of months ago.

Apparently to stop people posting spam to increase post count.

    Pretty good idea, I think.

      No wonder..

The guy in my WSO was a customer.. But i was kinda confused when I noticed his post count remained at 0 even though he was participating in the thread.

I was wondering what happened with the post counts not registering.
I submitted a ticket with admin but got no response and so just Googled it then and found this thread. My own count has been stuck at 536 for ages now,.. even though I've run a really intensely commented WSO thread over the past 3 weeks in which I must have made 100 replies I'd say!

I can understand the comments spam is a problem but I don't think that canning the post counts overall is a very good idea at all.

Post counts on any forum are relevant because it says something about the long standing status of the member and their contribution toward the forum. It also gives an indication of experience (certainly as that relates to forum protocols etc) and I use it as a measure of a persons involvement in IM and as an active Warrior. If I see a comment from a warrior who's been a member for say 12 or 18 months and has a post count of 17 then I don't hold that warrior in as high a regard as someone else that has a couple of hundred posts within the same time frame.

Added to that,... as a product marketer and WSO promoter myself, I often get affiliate requests to promote my WSO's. If I get a request from someone with just a handful of posts I will tend to reject their request based on lack of commitment to the forum (there are other factors but that one registers with me most).

So it leaves me questioning how on earth the WF can progress without having a working post count system in place?

      Best regards

        Oh...I agree...nicely put...

        but...

The OP and reply say nothing about the overall post count not counting.
The post count not counting is the OT and WSO forum just as stated in the Original Post. Which as also stated IS a good idea in my opinion.
        (Test forum doesn't count either)

But I have used my considerable pull :p to have the other...oh... eighteen or so... forums... post counts turned back on.

        Your welcome...

Overall post counts are still very much active. However, how can you say that someone is contributing towards the forum when they make posts along the lines of "looks like a good product, waiting for more reviews", or "just bought, will post a review later". They can still get credit for all of the "that's a good point" or "I agree" posts in the main forum, but that is unavoidable.

With this said, you probably won't listen to anything I say anyways, but here's some food for thought.

If 2 warriors read the forum, one will quote the posts they like and make responses like "this is a good point" or "I agree with your general idea". The other will simply hit the "thanks" button for the posts they like and possibly respond to a few posts specifically with an indepth opinion. Which is contributing more to the forum - the one who makes at least 5-15 posts a day, or the one who trys to only make fully relevant contributions?

My point is that while post count is a decent indicator, it is not the "written in stone' gauge on how much someone has contributed.
