Hi I am very new to all...including forum.

Where can I find someone to help me with getting going on line please?
I have all sorts of affiliate needs to get off the ground and I need a mentor to help me. I live in Queensland, Gladstone in fact so if local anyone, even better! I am technophobic and just need 'hands on help' to once and for all get going. Thanks

Hi Old Newbie; In reading your post, you mention affiliate needs so i am guessing you have joined an affiliate program or two. Within these programs, you have an upline and the first level upline is your sponsor. I suggest contacting them for assistance.

    Hi Old Newbie,

Technophobic? I congratulated myself for figuring out how to post in here my first day. It goes away. In here you end up learning stuff you never intended to. Just relax and let it happen, nothing to be afraid of but an electrical outage that sends us all back to brother typewriters -- now THAT is scary.

You have some ways to go here. You can put up your own blog (wordpress) or you can use a free blog (might get you through until you figure out which way you want to go but you won't want to stay there forever) - or you can have someone help you with putting up a site. There's Warriors in the for hire section of the forum (just a couple forums under the main forum) that might be willing to put up a site for you for a low price. People can be real helpful here.

I can't offer you much at this stage of the game because I don't do the tech work and if I make a page I have to use a wysiwyg editor. Oh - that's another option for you. LOL.

I'd say to figure out whether you want a standard website or wordpress site first and then look for someone to help you with it. My suggestion would be wordpress - that way you can at least do the basics on your own from the admin panel after someone installs it or shows you how - and it's easy to keep updated from the admin panel.

If I see you ask any questions I can actually help you with, the pleasure will be mine.

I'd never heard the term technophobic so I looked it up on Wikipedia, here's what I found:

Technophobia is the fear or dislike of advanced technology or complex devices, especially computers.[1] The term is generally used in the sense of an irrational fear, but others contend fears are justified. It is the opposite of technophilia. First receiving widespread notice during the Industrial Revolution, technophobia has been observed to affect various societies and communities throughout the world. This has caused some groups to take stances against some modern technological developments in order to preserve their ideologies. In some of these cases, the new technologies conflict with established beliefs, such as the personal values of simplicity and modest lifestyles. A number of examples of technophobic ideas can be found in multiple forms of art, ranging from literary works such as Frankenstein to films like Metropolis and Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs. Many of these works portray the darker side of technology as seen by the technophobic. As technologies become increasingly complex and difficult to understand, people are more likely to harbor anxieties relating to their use of modern technologies.

If you are just playing with words, that's one thing. But if you are serious then maybe you might prefer something in the brick and mortar line.

Yeah, technophobic is a term that is at LEAST 30 years old. I have used it, even THEN, to describe the FIRST person I knew that was tecnophobic. MOST technophobes that I have known simply find it SO foreign that they are afraid to TRY to learn it. And MANY of them believe the myths and are thus AFRAID to try. But 90% of the stuff that has been publicized for the past 100+ years is 100% GARBAGE! It is ONLY NOW becoming potentially feasible, but hopefully such things will NEVER be tried. If they are DUMB enough to try, and give a computer enough peripherals and autonomy, it COULD become like I, Robot, but the average computer will never get there.

Learning about computers, especially if you want to learn at and to the level I did, CAN be daunting. At first, t could seem impossible. Frankly I think it just takes passion and effort.

OH, there ARE some that claim to HATE the idea. I don't know if it is because it changes the balances of knowledge and ability, destroys privacy, can overthrow governments, hurts physical work ethic, or is just hiding the OTHER kind of fear.

    HiOld newbie,

from my experience, you just need to try entering all subtopic off this forum, get to know what they are discussing, actively participating on what they are talking, asking about something politely and try to search for the answer on the internet, if you don't know ask them about it.... just do not ask silly question, be smart, and they will try to help you...

in the end, we are just one big IM family... no room for hatred though :-)
