Dreamers

There seem to be a lot of dreamers here and in IM in general.

Go out and start a "brick and mortar" then come back and tell me how dreams and second hand news goes.

Theory is great for professors and other academics. Try reality and then get back to me.

Want a small (B&M) business? Try the SBA...Credit companies, where do you think they get their money from?

Don't bitch about things you can't control and never will.
A word of advice, get professional.... and fast.

  • Is that a rant? (Just kidding)

It's true, dreaming about making huge money online is what entices most of the people to come here. Without any action taken that would be just that, a dream.

    • You betcha Jun...it's a rant.

But what I was really ranting about...which I don't do much.

Is the people that come here and completely throw any kind of common sense out the window. Think the Internet is some miracle drug.
It isn't, all it is, is a broader means of communication.

Get some business training at your local community or jr. college.
Hell start a real business in the brick and mortar world.

If you want to dream...dream, if you want to start a business...wake up.

(I don't want you to think I'm personally talking to you Jun...cause I'm not, although it wouldn't hurt to listen..)

I just can't believe what I was reading today....why don't ya just read me the party line...

The Wright Brothers were dreamers. So was Albert Einstein. (Despite being told by his teacher “You will never amount to anything.”)

    Walt Disney was a dreamer.

And, so were The Beatles (Even though they were told by The Decca Recording Company in 1962 “We don't like their sound, and guitar music is on the way out.”)

    Thomas Edison was a dreamer.

As was Stephen King who was told “We are not interested in science fiction that deals with negative utopias, they do not sell.”

    • Yea...they were...
and if they where nothing but dreamers they would still be dreaming.

As far as I know none were in IM, or came around here, and have SFA to do with what I was talking about....did you read the OP?

      Irony...gotta love it...carry on
    • Well, the wright brothers really only took current technology and theory to build another step onto what everyone knew MUST happen. Dreamers? NOPE!

For Albert Einstein, a lolt of myths were told. We don't even know if t is true. But people speak hyperbole like that ALL THE TIME, and nobody knows the full ability of a person.

As for the beatles? Their music wasn't THAT different from others. Anyone could tell that SOMEONE would like it. Guitars are similar to instruments that have been around THOUSANDS of years, and Guitars have been around hundreds of years. How could they die off just after major improvements were made and started to become popular?

Yeah, thomas edison was similar to the wright brothers. That deal with TUBES was a nice catch though! It started the electronics industry, and PROBABLY created te desire to create the transistor!

I heard someone told King he was a HORRIBLE writer. There are negative utopias that are CLASSICS! A TRUE negative utopia is one like logans run, The Time Machine, I robot. At least they SEEM to be utopias, to a degree. Was Star Trek around then? 1984(written in 1948) was negative, though I don't think that was really a utopia. Maybe they meant utopia in a LITERAL sense, but THEN the word becomes MEANINGLESS in this context.

As for yahoo and google. Google really DIDN'T have much to offer then.

What about the little drink company that was on its last breath? They were NEAR BANKRUPTCY! Their main, and maybe only, product was a knockoff of their major competitors main product. Well, the AUDACITY! They went to the competitor offering the company for $7000. The competitor said NO! Well, this little company made the drinks larger, charged less, and started an add blitz. Somehow they survived and grew and grew and grew. The previously large competitor was almost done for with their main product until they got a large contract with the U.S. government for the military. They grew back. The little company that once offered them the company for $7000? PEPSI! You probably know the other company was/is COKE!

Of course, DON'T forget about the salesperson that would have gotten a huge chargeback, so he QUIT and started competing with the service end. Eventually, he sold the company to GMAC(General Motors Acceptance Corporation). He started it AGAIN, and named the NEW company after himself! The name? Perot Systems! So EVEN when you buy your competitor out, you may STILL have to worry about them!

  • Jim,

It IS a broad means of communication. People communicate their messages effectively here to large groups... In fact think of the power of your own communication here... How many people it will reach over time. What do you want your message to say to them? Because here, over time surely ALOT of people will hear your message. What message do you want to deliver? Looks like "Support Kim".

You are absolutely BOUND to earn money for Kims Kidney when your thoughts go out here...and your link is spread over 500 posts, thats 500 chances for him to get a donation. So posting here can be very meaningful, and the fact that donations come in means that the very simplest action can produce a result for ANYONE.

For me, I am bound to sell a product here and there... and sometimes I change my sig to the warriorallstars... but in any event, the basic stuff taught here at WF is true. If you get your message in front of a target market, you make sales.

I do agree with you that posers need to be taken out to the wood shed, and only experience should be shared, but thats never gonna happen.

For a newby... This isnt a dream, its a reality. Its a place where they can learn, and also offer something in their sig and "earn" for their contributions both by asking provacative questions, and by contributing enlightening answers, they can offer things like article writing, seo services, web design, answering service, VA services...or whatever it is...and their dream can become a reality, they can put themselves in business marketing services to other business people, or products in places like the Warrior forum...Appointment setting services are another of a valuable thing to offer here... and virtually ANYONE CAN DO THAT!

Call me an optimist... but I believe reality is that the dream is real, and can be for anyone. For another instance, you could tie a note around a dogs neck and send it to enough doors advertising a mobile service and someone would call you back. Not rocket science. Basic making money ideas work if people do..., that means dreams can become reality.

Dont blame you for the rant bro...Dennis makes alot of sense. I hate it when I do that. 25% of my posts make me cringe. This one probably will. You arent alone.

I think Im ranting now too... lol.

  • I feel dreams are necessary because that is what keeps us going.. earn big bucks.... dream car......dream house.. dream job....
however whatever it is needs to be backed by solid plan and hard work.
also reality check is absolute necessity at times.
because you can dream as big as you want... but if it is not practical or not based on reality then chances are it wont be achieved.
    that applies to us mortals.......
as far as achieving the impossible.... well.... that is true... there are lot of people in history who did the impossible against odds...
but everyone should remember they worked for it....they were ready to give more than 100% to achieve the impossible.
and keep it mind. impossible is a relative term these days. what is impossible today most probably be possible in the near future.

  • I think dreaming is a very positive thing I agree that making money on the Internet isn't easy to do, it takes a lot of time and hard work. It doesn't hurt to dream big though while your working hard at the same time, that's what makes working on the Internet fun and exciting
  • I think I'm going to get a course in IM in general.
Thank you for the reality check..
  • Dream dream dream...

    for me Better believe...
