Our appetites,
once sated,
soon arise again
to demand

I think it's how we handle our appetites that most affects our life. What do you think?

This appetite is the force which encourages us to do something good in our life.

I don't know if I'd say it's what most affects our life, but it's surely near the top of the list. Self-discipline and judiciousness are extremely important.

I wouldn't think so (no pun intended), rather just a reminder that we don't have to be subject to the fickle whims of our appetites. I would suggest that the idea is to see appetites for what they are, utilize the force in them for good, if there is any, and take control over them. To take control would require discipline, determination and effort.

I think a little objective thinking and integrity could justly be added to that list. I see so little of it anymore.
