What Really Grinds Your Gears?

Maybe i am getting old or maybe my patience is not what it used to be, but there seems to be a lot of things that grind my gears lately.

Here are a few:
1. Drivers who don't indicate when turning/changing lanes.
2. People who start threads begging for help and then never check back.
3. Pennies-what the heck can you buy with a penny?
4. People who make a habit out of asking for a "review" copy.
5. People who have a cell phone glued to their ear 24/7.
6. People who reply to threads with garbage posts because they are to lazy to read.

Care to add yours?

You sound generally disgruntled. If I live to the age of an average male lifespan I have about 20 years to go. I don't want to waste too much of that time sweating the small stuff.

Having said that, those people who drive around with their windows down and the music playing so loud the bass rattles your windows from a half a block away, especially late at night, now those people I'd like to treat to a knuckle sandwich.

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

Both of you - Salegurus and Dennis pretty much summed up my pet peeves to a Tee, especially the creeps with the loud speakers in their cars probably at #1.

Add to them #2 being forced to listen to a foreign language I do not understand on just about every business phone call and even on TV without sub-titles. So obnoxious.

#3 those fricking automated customer service recordings that go on and on and on: press 1 for this and 2 for that and 3 for what else and 4 if other; press 4: press 1 for dat and 2 for dis and 3 for other; press 3: sorry we are too busy right now, please call tomorrow.

These 3 do more than grind my gears. They make me violent.

With some automated systems you can speak "operator" or "representative" into the phone to bypass the automation and get a real person. Works for my ISP and a few others that aren't coming to mind right now.

They typically don't tell you about the bypass system, so you just have to try it to see if it works.

Push ZERO three or four times. Most automated systems will automatically transfer you to a customer service rep. I do this ALL the time.

Recent glitches in my humble existence:
-- A line is showing on TV monitor, so it has to be replaced
-- My wife's massive and heavy elliptical machine is malfunctioning and company technicians failed to fix it, so it has to be replaced.

There's more, and it's all conspired to happen at once. C'est la vie.

What gets me worked up more than anything is people who say such crazy sayings, such as cheer up, it might never happen, or don't worry worse things happen at sea, how daft these sayings really are.

I can relate to that one. I've also noticed how many able-bodied people take a tiny elevator at a mall that is intended for disabled individuals, those in wheelchairs or for small children and their parents/caretakers...when there is an escalator just 25 feet away. What's with some people?
