Bullying

Paula - A teacher in New York was teaching her class about bullying and gave them the following exercise to perform. She had the children take a piece of paper and told them to crumple it up, stamp on it and really mess it up but do not rip it. Then she had them unfold the paper, smooth it out and look at how scarred and dirty is was. She then told them to tell it they're sorry. ...Now even though they said ......they were sorry and tried to fix the paper, she pointed out all the scars they left behind. And that those scars will never go away no matter how hard they tried to fix it. That is what happens when a child bully's another child, they may say they're sorry but the scars are there forever. The looks on the faces of the children in the classroom told her the message hit home.

    Well, Bullies do NOT care about such things! And right now they have a "no bullying campaign", but listen CLOSELY! They basically say it is OK to bully as long as the victim isn't LGTB! There are videos about it ALL over You TUBE. I won't do it the honor of naming it, but the initials are "IGB". GIVE ME A BREAK! But it is lip service ANYWAY! This is NOT new! And the majority of the victims are NOT LGTB! In fact, some of the BULLIES ARE!

        I didn't figure that out right away, myself. I agree that bullying is wrong no matter who is the victim of bullying. I can't say that I picked up the message that it's ok to bully as long as the victim isn't LGTB. That said, I have no opposition for campaigns to specifically protect LGTB. They often are specifically targeted for violent attacks, if news stories are any indication.

          You DON'T hear about a lot of the bullying in the news. It happens ALL THE TIME!

        I said I wouldn't say about IGB. I probably shouldn't even have said THAT. A number of people don't like the idea of just Male and Female, so they made an ackronym of what they see as 4 variants. Aw heck:

        Lesbian
        Gay
        Transgendered
        Bi

        Or LGTB. All I am saying is that if you want to claim to be against bullying, be against BULLYING! Don't go through these LONG speeches, etc... and basically say it is because of one thing.

        People are ALSO bullied if they:

        1. Have an odd name, or one that can be linked in a funny way, or feature.
        2. Can or can't do something.
        3. Won't fight, or will.
        4. Aren't into sports or are.
        5. Say something an odd way, or something others don't agree with, or misunderstand.
        6. Have rumors spread that appear to fit one of the above 5.

        And that is just for STARTERS! I've been bullied for ALL the above 6! Teachers didn't care THEN and were part of the problem, and apparently don't NOW.

      I don't believe all bullies share the same psychological profile. Some can be reached. Those that can't are either criminally insane or sociopaths.

      I gather that some bullies do come to feel remorse for the harm they've inflicted on others.

        Steve, that's not the case everywhere. I know there was a new law about bullying that passed recently here and the schools are taking it very seriously - even monitoring social media for it.

          Kids I was talking about are little. I guess she was able to show them what happens when they bully others. But you are right Steve, we can find them everywhere. I was also bullied as a kid I think most of us are in one way or the other. We just have to be more active, that's all. People or groups like LGTB are well organized and they have money to invest in promotion or programs.

            They IGB campaign is actually supported and financed even through the WHITEHOUSE!!!!! YEP, WE are paying for it.

          Only because some kids are fed up and bring gats, solving it themselves, since there was nothing in place to stop, cease and desist such things.

          Most time it was not taken seriously and a kid was told to shrug it off.

          Now kid shrug off a bullet out the chamber.

          Kid say go ahead and have forums, file paperwork, meeting and committees, "I'll STOP it NOW".

      I agree, the campaigns arent directed to bullying in general. This is the main problem when they advertise such tings as they leave out some of the most important aspects as to why bullying is wrong overall.
