Warriors,

Internet marketing can turn out to be a lonely game to play. And sometimes you need company where you can have a heart to heart talk to feel lighter - what better way to do it than get a pet?

I'm planning to get a cat cause I don't really have a pet right now. What about you? Do you have a pet?

I think this thread will be a much bigger hit than your latest one on the racist target listing.. lol just sayin

Yeah they could have worded it better, but they also didn't expect people to take it the way you did. haha even though its kind of comical it still isnt cool to post on an international forum. People get too upset over that stuff.

We have 2 **** zhus, 2 cats, 2 fish tanks (I call them kitty TV), and a bearded dragon. I have to say cats are their own beings - they will occasionally pad over and demand a pet or scratch but otherwise they put up with humans most times - very aloof. Dogs - poor creatures - loyal as the day is long, but they do need attention.

Are you familiar with the story of christian the lion? A lion who was rescued by two men when he was young and made him their beloved pet.

This is a very touching story..You might wanna check it in youtube..

I have a multitude of pets and they are the BEST kind: they all take care of themselves...

. . . Because they are all wild animals who share our property as their home. My "pets" include many varieties of wild birds, squirrels, deer, the occasional bear, moose and other wild animals.

When I get the chance, I enjoy shooting them ... with my CAMERA ONLY!

I didn't take this shot - you might recognize it from elsewhere on the Net - but if you have seen one squirrel, you've seen them all.

I always own a dog - just one at a time. Usually that means a purebred rotty. This time I rescued a rescue. Little Ricky, who is half rottie and half only God knows what. He's only 60 pounds so is much smaller than I am used to. He knew he was dying when I met him. He was in pain and scared crapless, and was feeling very alone. He was given to me when I was able to kill the cancer that was taking his life. He knew I was taking care of him and became rapidly trusting and extremely loyal. I've been teaching him how to fetch his collar and my shoes lately. He's starting to "get it". Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? We're out walking in the mountains or woods every day. He's old so I won't have him much longer but showing him the love and attention he never had and giving him some great last years is extremely rewarding. He's turned into the most generally happy creature I've ever had and it makes me smile every time his little tail wags, which is almost all the time now.

I don't feel that way. Those dogs are also here and need good homes, too. Those expensive kids sometimes end up in trouble, too. Any animal who needs a home is a good animal to give one to. I loved each of my purebreds, only one was a rescue. I love Ricky, too. Not sure if my next dog will be a purebred or a rescue. I basically just let fate put me together with someone. So far I've always been led to the right kid. When Ricky is gone, someone else will be put in my path and that is who I will bring home.

Well bred dogs are healthy dogs, with genes needed to help improve the gene pool for the breed. It is expensive to breed quality dogs and I don't know a single reputable breeder that made themselves wealthy breeding dogs. Good breeders do it out of love for the breed, not the money.

The money spent on a well bred dog will often be saved many times over compared to dogs that may have hip displasia or other health problems. I'd rather pay a breeder now for doing a good job, than pay the vet later.

      Awesome story... and he's beautiful.

The "rescues" are the best, IMHO.

I have an older pomeranian rescued 5 years ago that sticks to me like glue because I'm the only person in his entire life that ever treated him with respect and he knows I'll keep him safe. He's a very small dog, 1/3 the size of a normal pom, and the product of some very bad breeding. If I hadn't rescued him when I did, he'd be dead now. (Actually, he adopted me, I had no choice in the matter. But I'm so glad he did.)

He's with me every second that I'm at home, no matter what I'm doing. If he has his way he's in my lap 24/7, but I can't blame him.

Besides him, I have a zoo, and won't list them all (you'd have proof that I'm crazy, and I already have enough people in my life that know that).

Kudos to you HeySal for saving Little Ricky

That's why I like purebreds Kurt. My first dog was smart as a whip and I loved him to death. But he had bad bloodlines and he was sick all the time. He broke my heart. My two pedigrees were healthy until long over their life expectancy. Like I said though - when I am without a dog, one seems to be practically put into my hands, so I just let the universe decide who it wants to give me. It's done a good job so far at picking out my pals.

He's an outdoor cat that gets looked after by one of the security guys in the marina I live in but he's now taken to coming into my place at night (and sometimes a spanish neighbour). He's wary of mnay people but is a real fusspot with me. Follows me round till I sit down then he's on my knee! Oh and at night he'll sleep on my bed usually until 6am when he wants to go out. He cries and nudges me to wake me!

@Mustafa please don't take cat! Take TWO cats! Only one reason against two cats is space. If you have enough take two. Two cats require much less attention than one. They simply play together and you will have to friends
