New Copywriter Please Help

Hello veterans, how're you?
I was wondering if you could help.

Basically, I'm two weeks into my first job as a full-time copywriter. I've been given ten SEO blogs per day of 250 words and on the first day was told to complete all ten. This would have been ok but taking into account training, computer problems, introductions to software etc. I am now already behind by 15 blogs, or the equivalent of a day and a half's work.

I'm now also regularly being given articles, landing pages and what not to complete on top of my blogs. To give you an idea, (starting yesterday) by next friday I have been told to write 31,000 words (2,500x10 + 6000 of articles). And there's no reason why I won't be given even more tomorrow or the next day.

I understand that most copywriters work 9am to 6pm and this is no problem, but at the moment I'm not taking lunches and just about completing and uploading my daily 2,500 words. Apparently the process, including uploading, hyperlinking et al, gets quicker but at the moment it feels like a bit of a piss take.

Now with a backlog and extra work I'm beginning to think copywriting isn't for me. Then again, maybe it's just the company that isn't for me, they're a start up and lots of staff have already left because of the same conditions. I'm also on 14 grand a year, which, given my current hours, equates to less than the minimum wage.

Could I ask you to give me an idea of what sort of conditions you work with? Average day's word count, average pay, average hours. I'm thinking of having a word with the boss and need some perspective. As I say, this feels like a bit of a piss take.

Very Grateful

actually, just got another email, make that 32,600 words.

Why are you working for less then minimum wage - isn't that illegal?

If you don't value your time any more than what you're working for, neither will anyone else.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.
