    Sorry to hear it.

His offbeat insights gave me many a chuckle.

    May he rest in peace.

I had a feeling when he retired, he wouldn't be around much longer.
He was a local and still had many ties to the area.
I met him in the 80's at a wedding reception at the Albany Country Club when I worked there.

I loved his comments. He had a rare talent for saying things and not have controversy swirling because it was so clearly his own opinion. Great sense of humor. I'm another that thought his health might be failing as I couldn't see him quitting unless he had to.

Actually, I just saw on the news that he suffered from complications after undergoing minor surgery earlier this week.

I really enjoyed his commentaries on 60 Minutes.

He was a brilliant writer and commentary.

It is a very sad day indeed.

        He will be greatly missed.

Strange timing. About a month ago I watched 60 minutes for the first time in about a decade. It just happened to be Andy Rooney's last show.

He seemed to be in decent health, but considering he died about a month later, maybe he wasn't feeling well.

    Here's a good tribute:

    Here's his last commentary:

  • Did you ever wonder what would happen to journalism, once all the old school journalists were gone?

Andy Rooney was an old school journalist in the true sense of the term.

He still insisted on writing his column on his old school typewriter, his old school way, in his old school style...

He made his own way as a columnist, and carved his name into that old school desk.

Heck, he even carved his own desk - literally. (pun intended... Andy would have liked it that way - :rolleyes
(He was a master craftsman, and made the desk he reported from every week.)

So when we look back on those old school days, think about that name Andy carved there in that well hewn wood, and reflect on those halcyon days with a smile, and a wry wink...with a curmudgeonly kind bushy eyebrow...

And whenever you begin a sentence with, "Did you ever...?"

    And now, here's Andy Rooney...

Andy was great - he definitely was the master

If he could talk now I bet he would give a good blatant dialogue on what needs to be improved in the ER, and all the last places he visited.

We lost a truth teller with no fear of reprisal for whatever reason. It's a great loss.

    RIP Andy Rooney

Was just about to post this, glad I looked for it first.

I liked listening to him. It surprised me to find he was that old. Where does the time go?

    RIP Andy.
