My and ex and I used to troll for bad dvds to see who could get the worst one. We stumbled across Route 666 which was meant to be a horror - it was soooooo bad. We told our friend it was the best and scariest film we'd ever seen - when she finally built up the courage to watch it with her dad she phoned me afterwards to curse me - haha!!

Without question, the worst movie of all time (in my opinion) was...

    ... Blair Witch Project!

Took my family to it expecting to be both entertained and frightened and we were neither! All it was was a few young adults running around in the woods using foul language.

The only potentially interesting and scary moment came right at the end of the film ... but it lasted a split second and the movie was over!

Now, to be fair, our home is on an acreage that (at the time) was surrounded on three sides by forest and that's where our kids grew up - running around and playing in the woods.

But still. BWP could have at least TRIED to be a little frightening.

Worst movie ever for me was probably The tree of life with Brad Pit.
The only thing i have against Brad in that movie is his looks the role of an dad in 70s doesnt suit him although he performed very good.

The thing i have against that movie are the loooong boring silent scenes of outer space that had little to do with the main idea of the movie. I barely kept myself from leaving the cinema on one of them. I get it that the creators of the movie wanted to add in some feeling of divine power but that was way too crazy and tasteless for me.

I agree with most of your selections. However, I there is a certain quality about 'B' movies, (such Kronos, attack of the 50' Woman) that give them an ever so slight edge over the worst movies of all time.

I believe "Plan 9 From Outer Space" is widely accepted as the worst movie ever made.
And, I would have to include every movie Ed Wood ever made as the all-time worst movies ever made.
Every other bad movie would come in a distant 2nd.

Maybe not the worst of all time, but one that really was dissapointing was the Bruce Willis vs meteor movie. I can't remember the name, but what a waste of a great cast.

What got me was how they crash their space ship into the meteor, and barely dent a "fender". You crash into a solid ball of iron at 23,000 miles an hour and barely have a scratch? ...C'mon man!

Armageddon. And I agree. What a waste of a great cast. However, I thought it was a halfway decent "escape" movie, even if it was very predictable.

As was stated that no matter what movie is listed as the worst, it will still have fans. I can definitely say that is right, at least proven in my own mind, as many of the movies you list I actually liked, such as Shutter Island and Avatar. The funny thing is I was thinking the same thing when I listed Fargo. I knew many people liked it but realized that this isn't a trying to prove something thread, just a subjective, opinion thread.

Wow, some of you have named some good films too, Transformers 1-3, Beetlejuice, showgirls, men in black, Blair Witch project, each to our own I guess.

    My worst films:
Hostel (takes too long to get to the killings and the special effects sucked).
Ground hog day (starring Bill Murray)
    Ghost Rider
Equilibrium (it wants to be the matrix)
Big Fish (worst Tim Burton film)

I never saw that apparent stinker, but based on your description, I don't think that qualifies. For me a movie that qualifies for the truly worst (most terrible) list ought to be a minus five star rating, with smelly turds where there ought to be at least a speck or two of entertainment value ie:

Has anyone seen Chronicle (2012) yet??

It came out in theaters on Feb. 3 and then just seemed to disappear.. I never even knew it was in theaters until after it was gone!

wtf man?!! That looked like it was gonna be a really good movie.. but I'm stuck waiting for the DVD!

    UHHH... No!

2001: A Space Odyssey is borderline genius.
One of the most imaginative, thought provoking movies of all time.

  • Escape From L.A. - John Carpenter and Kurt Russell

This much-hyped Turkey was passed off as a "terrific collaboration and reunion of the actor and director that they have been working on and planning for 20 years..."

Too bad they only spent 5 minutes on a script...They took a what was a cool cult movie (NY)...and completely screwed it up -

I knew it was going to be bad when Snake shows up in the first scene, supposedly 16 years later...dressed exactly the same way he was 16 years ago...(???) - And the surfing scene? Are you kidding me?

Fer sure...it totally wasn't knarly dude...

It should have been called "Escape From This Movie"

I don't recall the worst movie I watched... can I just say Breaking Dawn is the worst movie in the series.

Boondock Saints. Hands-down. Every college kid in America thinks this atrocious abomination is high art. In truth it's a long drawn-out insult to your intelligence if you happen to have any. The overblown acting, the absurd religious overtones, The use of Latin, swiveling upside-down gun battles, Russians so Russian they would make Lenin puke, idiotic dialogue masquerading as witty banter... ugh. There's a seven-part essay on why this movie is complete schlock on the internet, where the reviewer puts it ahead of Garbage Pail Kids as the worst film of all time. But they did make a sequel to this mindless live-action-anime so its debatable weather the first pile of dog feces is worst than the second, but what makes this movie truly awful is that it is beloved by a good chunk of the world, god have mercy on us all....

I'm sticking with The Blair Witch Project:

Nothing scary until the final scene. Just kids running around in the woods swearing a blue streak. Nothing exciting or entertaining and basically no story line.

It was only the success of the Internet hype that boosted the "popularity" of this awful excuse for entertainment.

    (But that's just my opinion.)
