Strange Thing Happened Last Night

So there I was in bed. . . falling asleep. . . I heard some banging, and then I heard BANG! My wife wakes up and I jump out of bed.

There was someone in the hallway kicking a door. . . I rush out into the hallway, and it's my neighbour, some guy from India. . . He is kicking the hell out of his own door! He sees me and tries to hide behind the landing door. . . He was RIPPED. Anyway, I explain to him that he should not be doing this. . . "Shorry. . ." he says. I go back inside my apartment, and 20 minutes later. "THUMP" There he is on his doorstep. . . Passed out. His girlfriend would not let him in.

You see, whenever this guy drinks, he has a nasty habit of beating her up. Now, I knew for a fact that this guy SHOULD NOT be in my building. He told me himself. . . He was recently arrested for assault on his girlfriend.

So, I say to my wife, "This is not good. He has almost burned the building down, he beats his girlfriend, AND he should not be here. . ." I call the police, they come and. . . THEY ACTUALLY knocked on his door, woke up his girlfriend and helped her to put him in bed! My question:

#1. Should not the police have gotten his ID? Ran his name and said, "Ahhh... he is in breach of his restraining order. . ." WOW! This totally amazes me.

Oh, and he is NOT a citizen. . . He is a worker-class. Canada, what a country. . .

  • Wow! Is that true? You'd think in a potential domestic violence situation they'd have at least checked him out before handing him back over. Did he have a restraining order put out on him?

  • Yes, this is true. YES, he has a restraining order. My feelings are:

    #1. His girlfriend is also a fault. She let him back in and allows him to beat her up.
    #2. He should be deported. He is only a worker. WHY do we still have this massive influx of workers in Canada and the USA? The jobs should be for the citizens. . . I am quite disturbed by this, as are the other tenants. . .

    I live in a "Professional Building." Go figure, skid-row comes to West Edmonton. . .

    Likes to hit his girlfriend? I would've taken advantage of his drunk a** and thrown him down a flight of stairs (he wouldn't touch one step on the way down), then call the cops to take him in for a night of r&r at the Graybar Hotel, as he obviously can't walk. Get him arrested and booked to add another notch to his 'stellar' reputation.

      Canadian cops are becoming more like social workers.
  • His girlfriend should have called the Chief, ordered them to take him away - gotten their badge numbers, and charged them with wreckless endangerment. The minute she allowed them to bring him in she opened herself up for a lot of trouble and more than a tad of danger.

    • He has been living there for ages. . . HE IS NOT supposed to be. . . SHE has already let him back in. . . He beats her up, and she allows it. . .
  • First of all, the girlfriend should have left a long time ago. There's no way I'm going to let a man beat me and live in the same house with him. Even if the cops did come, I would have told... EVERYTHING and made them take him away. I definitely wouldn't feel sorry for him and put him back to bed. I guess this story faults both sides, the girlfriend and the cops.
  • She should have never taken him back in the first time she filed the restraining order. If she won't uphold it, it's unenforceable and the judge will have second thoughts the next time she comes in with battery charges against him. The cops....well, she LET THEM put the idiot back into the home. She's in control if she chooses to exercise it. If not, if he will hit her, what's to stop him from hurting her far worse?
