I've a good friend that is in trouble - their home is owned by private owners & they are not interested in helping out. She's in foreclosure and unless she can get up 5k to give the lawyer her family will have no home after the Holidays.

I've got up some items to give them so that they have a nice Holiday, but so far I'm far short of the funds they need to keep their home. I'm hoping that I can raise up some money to help - my family, kids and friends have been giving what they can to try and help them.

Even if we can't get up enough to save their home, at least whatever funds I can raise can help them get into another place so they aren't homeless. With all the so-called help, no agency or organization has the funds to help. There are just too many families and individuals that are on hard times.

I often read about the tons of money that so many marketers make, but I don't often hear what they are doing to "give back" to those in need. I know of two "gurus" that are actually giving money to help out the homeless and local charities. But for all the thousands of dollars that are "claimed to be made" daily, weekly or monthly on the sales pages of so many - I sometimes wonder if they would consider helping out others.

If I could find something that I could do to make a good amount like I've heard quoted by so many...I'd be trying to get up the funds before Christmas so my friend could enjoy the best part of the Holiday.
Being with family at home.

They've sold almost all their furniture, stuff and still don't have enough to pay the lawyer. They're having trouble just keeping up with the bills since her husband isn't working. I asked my trucker cousin to help and he said have the guy call him. So there's a chance he'll be making better money after he starts driving too. But that isn't going to help right now.

The owners won't even give a 30 day extension so they could try to get up the money. My friend is a really good person and has been a big help to me. I can't give up trying to find a way to help her too.

If anyone has any ideas on how I can get up any money by the end of Dec. - I can't give up, I have to try my best.

You don't hear exactly what marketers are doing to help people? Take a gander at my signature. The problem right now is that there are SO MANY people that need help. You can't expect people to be endlessly generous with strangers when their own families and friends are in need.

You would probably have to hold a fundraiser in their own community. Marketers do contribute money - and time to people in need. We have fundraisers now and again for long-time Warriors that need life-saving funds for health reasons. But if we tried to donate to every person that came in here asking for help, even the "gurus" would be broke.

Mentioned ^^^ Times are tough for everyone (Mostly) i see at least one thread a day where someone is asking for help. I'm sure most people would like to help but there simply is not enough to go around.

What about your friends Family members, friends, local church group etc. instead of asking total strangers on a Forum for help?

You obviously don't spend enough time here, there are numerous examples where members do help other members. Sometimes something as mundane as offering free coaching, free hosting, paying for WARROOM memberships etc.

They are exactly that "claims" there are many people here who probably don't make enough to cover hosting fees.

Maybe the best gift you can give them is to offer your home or help them rent a good place in your area. Perhaps that could mean you putting them up or using your friends / family to help out as this is a private matter.

Many people are walking away from their homes and dumping all the expense that goes with it. I do know there are laws that prevent simply tossing people out in the streets. I have seen many examples of people being in foreclosure (at least here in America) where people still can reside in the home until they find another place. If the home is rented by private owners, regardless the private owners still have to follow the law.

As for charity it helps if you have a bit more rep around here and people get to know you before you ask for help as many people come to this forum thinking they will somehow wrangle money out of people without offering any kind of value and then have a hard luck story. I am not saying that is the case here but I look at your avatar and it says to me you are not truly representative who you are, thus you are not totally responsible for your posts.

I do know there is a section somewhere on the forum for that specific request organized by someone, asking for help / money.

Does anyone know where that link is?

Not that I've seen. There may have been a thread started but such a "section" would quickly be filled with requests for donations.

When a family is reduced to selling their possessions to pay bills and is behind in mortgage payments, too, it's time to make plans to move.

Even if a miracle happened and the past payments and legal fees were paid...what would happen three months from now when they still couldn't make their payments. The potential income from a new potential job is not something you can count on.

The OP refers to "private owner" and I assume that means "private lender". That person is not to blame and not at fault. A private lender may be counting on the income fromm the mortgage to pay his own mortgage. There is no reason for him to allow someone to stay on a property without making payments. Foreclosure don't just "happen" - it takes more than one missed payment to go into foreclosure (depends on state law).

Many good people have lost their homes in this economy. As a good friend, focus on helping your friend make the mental transition from "keeping our home for Christmas" to "finding somewhere we can afford to live".

The comments about WF members don't deserve an answer.

The only way to slow down a foreclosure action is to declare bankruptcy which gives you a window of time to make plans for losing the home.
