I've really liked Heart Full of Soul since I was a kid...great tune.

Didn't Keith Relf ( the one singing ) electrocute himself plugging in his guitar...was that him? or someone else..I have to go do something, but even if I didn't I would still be to lazy to look it up right now...l0ol

I figure you would know Kurt...maybe I'm getting my imploding musicians mixed up...

Here's a trio of songs that I originally posted on the "Obscurities" thread, however this thread is far more appropriate:

John Osbourne, Anthony Iommi, Terrence Butler and William Ward who were known as Earth when they recorded these demos.

They then discovered there already was a band called Earth with a record contract, so they changed their names to Ozzy, Tony, Geezer and Bill, and the band name to Black Sabbath.

The rest, as they say, is history.

I really 'appreciated' James Brown back when he was around..really did.

This is one of his earliest hits, not sure if it was before he was famous...

Before Deep Purple and the James Gang, Tommy Bolin (RIP) played with a band called Zepher. The lead singer for Zepher was Candy Givens (RIP) who reminds me of a cross between Grace Slick and Janis.

Here's a Zepher song from 1969 with both Candy and Tommy...

I would say that's a pretty accurate analogy there Kurt...she really does sound like a cross between the two. Quite an accurate analogy.

I remember you posted a Tommy Bolin song here before...People, People which I still appreciate.

I started to remember going to a party in 'the valley' which really was Van Nuy's Blvd and valley girl stuff back then..(in L.A...though it has changed radically since)

Anyway there were two girls 'dribblin' over an album cover and I am reasonably sure it was Teaser...after you posted back when, I started to remember, he was pretty popular with the ladies back then...irregardless, it was quite an album, a good one, I plan to add to the collection...so thanks...

I love that video of NKC and Billy. I like how they circle around, taking turns singing and playing the organ...And Billy really had a great voice at that age.

I don't think a lot of people realize that Billy Preston could be considered the "6th Rolling Stone", but he played keyboards on almost all the Stones songs of the 70s.

He would have been a big star...

After you posted last time, I did some research on him.

Apparently a lot of people thought that he was Native American..which is what I thought...his ancestry was actually Lebanese..

For what it's worth..I just love finding out where people come from..

I asked a friend in L.A. once if he minded if people asked what his ancestry was ( I knew him for some time)...he told me he never minds as long as a person asks his name first...I've never forgotten how cool that answer was.

Yeah...Tommy just had the two solo albums, but I think they're both great. He did tone things down alot from his Zepher days, when he was pretty wild on guitar. And he was becoming a very good song-writer.

Part of the problem was Tommy never wanted to sell out. Post Tostee is 9 minutes long, so it wasn't ever going to get much air time (outside of Denver). But it's really a great 70s rock song that sounds good today, and not a bit dated.

I don't think I added anything you would object to..

Billy was great, he was one of the only 'modern' stars that my old country Irish Dad ever, ever said he liked.

He got a little freaky (for lack of a better word) towards the end, don't know how many people outside of L.A. heard about it....something that's vile to me...but he was so talented, I try not to get torn...so to speak.
Again, it was drugs...well you can look it up.

No denying his talent though.
