I dont even know what to say..

I just found out that one of my old friends from back in HS killed himself last night..

RIP Chris.. If you are somehow reading this from above, I wish you would have just gotten some help and tried to do something with your life, instead of just hanging out with gang members..

If I can change my life, you could have changed yours..

Damn man... I guess life goes on..

Sorry about your friend - I know it is always shocking - especially suicide.

You can only imagine how sick someone has to be to do this to themselves and their loved ones.

It does make you wonder whether they are better off 'resting in peace' than dealing with all the things that made them sicker and sicker. (life)

My condolences to his family and friends...

Wow...that sucks. Suicide is never an easy thing to deal with. I'll confess that it used to cross my mind from time to time. If you don't get help, the hole just gets deeper. I'm sorry your friend didn't get it in time.

Condolences, but is it just me, or has suicides increased since the slump in the economy?

I'd say theres definitely been an increase.

Just a few months back my cousin hung himself.. The government doesnt care tho.

As long as they can keep doing what they want to do, to hell with the "normal" people.. its just sad.

My condolences to you and his family Guru.

As happy as the Christmas Season is for many, unfortunately it is just as difficult for others. Holidays can be a very depressing for many and lead to unpleasant endings....it's all too common.

For folks out there that see anyone down in the dumps, please invite them for dinner, or just take the time to talk to them - show them that someone cares.

One person, one action, can make a big difference.

      First,

When income and prospcts drop, and uncertainty and debt go up, suicide is often NEVER very far behind. There was a time in 1987 when a guy felt this bad, but was VERY angry. He found a securities agent had ripped him off royally, and asked that it be set right. They laughed at him. He killed himself AFTER killing one of the guys, and making the other guy a cripple.

I HAVE tried, but now must mitigate things. All too often, they talk about how great MY life is, I compare it, and find that they basically try to bring me down, and I am not that high up to begin with. Luckily, where I am, it seems most people are ok. There aren't people seemingly all over, like places in LA county.

Steve, have you ever tried to explain that you were in their shoes, so to speak, that you have struggled to get to where you are now?

I have changed a few peoples attitudes about life...they thought I was rich.....I explained a few basic concepts that they needed to explore/adapt to/educate themselves in order to move forward and make a living for themselves.

Nothing in life is easy...we have to put forth the effort. If their insecurities get the best of them, we can only encourage them and hope for the best.

If we develop a relationship with them, they will look to us as a mentor....

Just sayin'.....if someone seems like they need to talk, please give them an ear.

YES, I HAVE! I have shown how the parts they thought were so great WEREN'T so, and how some of the parts they had problems I have and how I have had to work for everything.

One person felt I HAD to have .50, and was RICH because I had a suit. Give me a break. Some of the RICHEST people I have heard of, or known, have seemed poorer than they were. Stephen Wozniak never changed HIS attire Photos by Alan Luckow | woz.org

Warren Buffet and Sam walton were apparently not that extravagant in daily life. and I have known POOR people with rolls royces! I know one person that drove a new rolls royce! A few years later he lived in an old trailer in his mothers back yard. SERIOUSLY, you can NOT tell a book by its cover. But newcomers and people looking for something going to the county clerk, SBOE, court, bank, etc... may tend to wear SUITS!

Warren buffet wears custom chinese suits, but wikipedia says that otherwise the daily life isn't extravagant. He drives a cadillac, but that is still less than $50K.

Just this morning, I had a nice chat with a guy at the hospital. I now have to go there every month to get my INR checked. OH the niceties of conspiracies to gain control and profit at OUR expense! If I can help, or they have something interesting to say, I WILL STAY if I can.

BTW I just about HAD it when went to the drug store today. They have a CHOLESTEROL checking device now! I went to the consulting window, and said LOOK, you USED to have diabetic tests! NOW, you have A1C, Cholesterol, AND Oxygen AS WELL! PLEASE tell me you have a protime INR device! She SMILED, and said "NOT NOW....BUT....they ARE talking about it!"! She said that they are apparently afraid of self dosing, like they won't self dose cholesterol medication, and they aren't self dosing diabetic medication!

I know the feeling. I was shocked to recently discover that someone who ran a pottery studio and subsistence farm in South America where I stayed for a time had shot himself to death some years back. He wasn't actually a friend and not an enemy, but there was unjustified hostility directed at me (and ingratitude too, since I was helping them), and staying at their place was an unpleasant experience.

They had ideals based on the principals of "Small Is Beautiful" (Small Is Beautiful - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) and were actually putting it into practice. They were using completely local materials to construct buildings, make bricks, and also engineering machinery out of discarded junk and that was pretty cool. So, to learn the guy who ran this whole project just gave up and shot himself in the head saddened me (even if I didn't like him).

  • Sorry dude. I went through the same thing with an good friend kiling himself, and I was once suicidal as well. I can say I was not thinking right, but at the same time I loved my family very much. My pain was bleak and I saw no way out. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. But all these stories def. don't take away your pain, sorry

Thanks everyone, I suppose today is a new day. Cant change what happened yesterday, can only try to make sure today and tomorrow are better..

Life can be confusing at times to say the least.. but I guess it is what we make of it.

RIP Chris (guy on the right), you might be gone but you damn sure arent forgotten..

My old friend Kiel is the guy on the left, unfortunately it looks like he hasnt changed much either since the last time I saw him.

I guess Kiel & Chris became best friends when Chris got out of prison..

Sigh.. its kinda hard 2 post a pic but at the same time, its a reminder of just what kind of people I used to chill with.. I'm so thankful I got away from that lifestyle.

Sorry to hear about your pal. I've had a few ex themselves off over the years, too. Besides the usual loss, it leaves so many questions in your mind. Some people are even left with a feeling of guilt that they missed something they should have seen. Hope you never feel that way. It's hard to know what makes a person's mind snap and do something like this. Glad to hear that you have pulled yourself out of the lifestyle though.
