Anyone know of a good codec pack for Windows Media Player?

One that has durn near everything...specifically looking for .flv

But like before I changed computers, I'm trying to cover as much at once as possible.

I always do this, have something I don't touch it for years and then forget the name.

A good all around pack would be appreciated..

C'mon maaan, out of all the genius people here, no one can guide me to a codec pack for Media Player?

I just plain forgot which one I was using before.

Course you could be so smart that you don't use Media Player

    Hadn't thought of that one...lol

I know there are people here head and shoulders above me in computers.

I guess I should have mentioned it's for XP OS

          LOL...no kidding huh, Sumit?

Either that or the get a Mac and never catch a cold, crowd.

All right I downloaded VLC...pretty sure I used this before.
Always went back to WMP, something in the interface I liked or something.

Anyway it will be good to find out what's out there, as I plan on using video more this year.
Actually KJ guided me to codec pack for WMM...I'll probably use both til I get good enough to decide on one.

Thanks Thom, Kurt, Sumit and Ken. And KJ

          Appreciate your help

I don't use codecs... Used to use one called XP Codec long time back.. (Like in high school and stuff.. ) Don't use WMP anymore.

But have you ever heard of VLC Player? It's not pretty but it plays pretty much everything. It's not great if you want to make a playlist, but it runs most of the media file formats.

I use VLC and Quicktime player. The best thing about VLC is being able to adjust the speed to speed up those long IM videos were people just ramble. You just need to get used to learning from Alvin and the Chipmunks.

I considered installing VLC myself when I first started using Ubuntu.
I was having a few issues playing DVD's from Netflix in Movie Player.
I still have their site bookmarked just in case.
From the reviews that I read about it, it sounds like a good solid video player.
