... odd combination, right?

Anyways, I was watching a Discovery Channel show last night about Area 51. It was basically the same mumbo-jumbo about the secrets the place holds, the insane security in the surrounding desert so nobody can get close to it, etc., etc.

And then I had a realization.

First, I'm never going to become President of the United States. Second, because of my first realization, I will never know the real function of Area 51. I will live my whole life, and then die, not knowing what goes on in one of the US Government's most secretive military encampments.

And, for some reason, that thoroughly depressed me during this Holiday season.

... stupid Discovery Channel.

You are depressed over not knowing secrets? Holy cow - look how many there are on this planet. There are secrets contained in so much of this universe. How were you able to pick out just one to get freaky about?

Perhaps a better way to look at these secrets is to pick out one (as you seem to have done already) and study everything you can find about it. You may still not know the answers, but you will be positioned to develop solid theories. I enjoy the world's mysteries. They give me something to study and to think about. How dull this place would be with no mysteries to attempt to solve.

    Tifflee,

When I was a kid, people talking about area 51 were considered KOOKS! Many felt it did NOT exist! Look at what wikipedia says:

The facility is not a conventional airbase, as frontline operational units are not normally deployed there. It instead appears to be used for highly classified military/defense Special Access Programs (SAP), which are unacknowledged publicly by the government, military personnel, and defense contractors. Its mission may be to support the development, testing, and training phases for new aircraft weapons systems or research projects. Once these projects have been approved by the United States Air Force or other agencies such as the CIA, and are ready to be announced to the public, operations of the aircraft are then moved to a normal air force base. The intense secrecy surrounding the base, the very existence of which the U.S. government did not even acknowledge until July 14, 2003,[12] has made it the frequent subject of conspiracy theories and a central component to unidentified flying object (UFO) folklore.[7][13]
Be happy you even know it is there. GPS probably doesn't even work there! As I understand it, it is blocked from satellites. In a LOT of ways, ironically, it may be the safest, from outside weapons, place on the planet.

... yeah, tell me about it.

A friend of mine was visiting Vegas a year or two ago and decided to check out the general "Area 51" area. He found Groom Lake Road off of LV 375 (I think that is the road) and got freaked out about seven miles down it when he noticed the Humvees on the mountain tops trailing him and watching his every move with binoculars.

What kills me is all these new shows where people "investigate" area 51 to uncover the secrets within. And to no surprise every one of these "investigations" goes something like this...

    1) Drive to area 51, get out of the vehicle from several miles away and stare at it with binoculars.

    2) Interview supposed former employees who cannot provide any evidence or proof that they really did work there, and record their quackery statements.

    3) Come to the same conclusion every other "investigation show" does about area 51....that we don't know whats going on inside the facility.

I believe we are not alone in the universe, but some of the stuff they come up with about area 51 is just a little too far fetched. I wouldn't sweat over it too much if I were you

    Hi Tiff.

Not knowing the real function of Area 51 is not going to affect your life, right? It helps to take a mindset that if something does not directly impact your life or you realize you have no control over it, to move on, get it out of your head.

If we knew half of the government's secrets, we'd be mad as hell. I'm not saying it is better to keep your head in the sand, but to focus on the things in your life that really matter and let go of the ones that don't. Does that make sense?

I lived in Vegas most of my life. Born and raised there. My dad worked at the Nevada Test Site as a bomb technician, setting off "secret" underground bombs. I wondered if he had any affiliation with Area 51 and never get a straight answer from him when I ask. He had a security clearance and could not talk about most of what he did during his days at the test site.

There are many unknowns in this world and it could certainly drive you crazy if you have a desire to uncover the truths.

I hope you get over your depression and are able to enjoy this wonderful time of the year.

You have that wrong! Toxic waste ****IS**** buried there. A president(OH how I wish I could say who! I DO know who though. 8-)) issued an executive order that they be EXEMPT from ALL requirements and needs to report, EVEN under federal mandate, of even the NATURE of any waste. EVEN though it will save lives! The only secret, therefore, is WHAT the waste is! We KNOW it is highly toxic, contains outlawed chemicals, and maybe radioactive stuff.

The American Government is hiding so much far fetched stuff it is getting ridiculous!

But to keep it down to earth as much as possible, they are hiding something under intelligent control following the Apollo Astronauts in 1969, that when you Search for it on YouTube and pause the blurry image, it looks remarkably like a shuttle, (like in StarTrek, etc).

Then you have the Crystalline Antenna, that the US Government tried to remove from the Apollo images, but some got missed showing something that is at least 2 to 3 miles high.

Then you have the face on Mars, Viking images that show a face, half a mile high and 2.5 miles across.

Then when NASA sent back the latest images, it was a pile of rubble!!!

The US Government is definitively hiding things, these are the least airy fairy ones, but there are many more.

Why on earth would that depress you? A lot of crap goes on. If you come upon it, exposing it can be risky to you and those close to you. I came upon some weird stuff in a far off land. Very weird stuff. I chose to keep my mouth shut. It is not my destiny to be a busybody in other people's business, especially when doing so would be futile and possibly dangerous. I've got my own neurotic psychological concerns to sort out. Don't need to be picking fights with dangerous and powerful sociopaths. Choose your battles carefully. TB - a couple of decades ago, talk like that would have been considered "paranoia" "tinfoil nutbag" etc. Nobody laughs at that type of thoughts any more. Sad. But you are very right.

There was an off-limits area on the mountain across the street from me in one place I lived. I was out walking the dog and looking around for petrified wood. I was on the dirt road that lead to a gate - the gate said Keep Out. I had no intentions of crossing it, but did walk up to it because I was checking the road bank for rocks. I got around 3 feet from the gate and turned around - and was met by a jeep full of guys in combat camoflauge and guns. I was told I was not to go in there it was private property. I said, yeah, I saw that, that's why I turned around. They told me I passed one already and pointed back down the road. I told them - um...I didn't come from that direction and pointed to the direction I came in from. They all looked at each other like it was bizarre that I came up the other road. They told me that I could get shot for going past the gate. I said, not a problem, look, I was walking the dog and doing some light rock hunting. Not interested in arguing with guys with guns or getting shot. I'm leaving and know not to come back, okay? They seemed okay with the fact. I was freaked out for everything though. I was on a road on the other side of the area once and some very bizarre things happened that day. No guys with guns, but I have some time and possessions missing that I can't account for and heard something that didn't sound like any creature I've ever heard of before. Nothing would make me go back to try to explain it all to myself.

Not going to say where this happened. Not interested in revisiting events.

But I will agree with you. There's a lot of things I still want to do and see around this berg and it's really not worth it to me to know what's behind areas like this. We know there are now drones over the US like the military used in war overseas. We know that there are viruses that can be loosed that will kill most of us. We know that there are underground bunkers to protect the powerful in emergencies. We know that we have no habeas corpus and are about to lose freedom of speech completely. We know without habeas corpus, we don't need to lose it - if we say what those in power don't want said, we can just "go away".

It's a good time of mankind to be watchful, but it's not a good time to know what you shouldn't. Learn to keep your secrets. All it takes in times like these to go away is to have neighbors who don't approve of what you think or do.

I watched a special recently on the developments going on at the area 51 base. Pretty interesting - humongous buildings have been constructed.

The documentary was a result of a photographer camping out in the only area where it's possible to take photos with serious camera lens action. In fact, until recently there were no cameras capable of taking such photos. The air space is restricted as are viewing areas around area 51.

I was left wondering if the speculation about the area from years ago is encouraged to hide what is going on there now....whatever "it" is.

A provocative book reflective of origins in the Cold War espionage motive is discussed rather assertively in "Area 51: An Uncensored History of America's Top Secret Military Base" authored by Annie Jacobsen. It was just published in May, currently available on Amazon. The coverup of activities there apparently was the most successful hoax in history and is still self-perpetuating and powerfully effective even today for the continuing research in advanced aircraft technology.

Man is THAT ambiguous! Still, the history isn't so uncensored that one can be sure of that title.

I doubt any of the affirmative admissions the military has made are false. As for the NEGATIVE ones? Some say that is intentional to mislead. Who knows, they HAVE done that before, and did for Area 51. Still...

There is EVEN the weird stuff that is SCARY that some might not have believed, was SCIFI, etc.... Consider THIS:

1, The computer was created over a decade before it was acknowledged.
    2. IC electronic technology was kind of stagnant for like a decade or so, or WAS it?
    3. HECK, a small change of the VERY old eprom technology would lead to effectiovely a CCD, which is the basis of even the smallest cameras today.
    4. The latest IC technology would require government exemptions, etc... They probably took a while to get. Meanwhile, the government could easily use it.
    5. At one point, people said that technology is often used by the government a decade before the general public. Who knows, but they said maybe THAT is the reason for cow mutilations.

WHO KNOWS! ONE reason why mass production of ICs is SO slow? The yield of good components is rather low. HECK, when woz started designing computers, they were EXPENSIVE! He wouldn't have been able to afford it. So WHAT did he do? He used out of spec components. Basically JUNK! BTW he never sold those systems. The government is KNOWN for overspending! Maybe one reason is because some components had a low yield.

The SR-71, and stealth planes, were TOP SECRET! I knew a person, who had no reason to lie here, that saiid the SR-71 was STILL flying! It is claimed that they have an SR-75!

The stuff I KNOW the consumer has, and that the government could have, is scary ENOUGH! When I think about the LIKELY potential, YIKES!

And every now and then I hear of a MORONIC idea from the government and I HAVE to wonder if it is a cover story. Almost like the stories, and it HAS been shown on the news also, where someone may destroy a whole building to hide the fact that they destroyed a room to hide the fact that they stole a file to hide the fact that they did something else.

Like WHY did they change the currency like 4 times? HELL, I couldn't even get a drink in my last job because I usually only had the new new new $5 bill! I guess it was made for the $5 bill, or the new $5, or the new new $5 bill! The OFFICIAL story is that they did it to limit counterfeits. It makes counterfeiting EASIER! HELL, how could it make it harder if they could continue business as usual without ever knowing that things ever changed?

Area 51 started out as a myth, because of all the activity there. Some let it slip in various ways. They have OFFICIALLY revealed that YES it is a military base and YES it has been used for research, etc... The ONLY myths that they have said are NOT true is that they are studying aliens or alien technology, or working with aliens.

The first step in secrecy is to make it look like you are open, like you have NO secrets! So it would be dumb for the government to go out of its way to make it look like it had secrets. In fact, they are sick of answering questions about things like area 51.

SO, is area 51 a toxic sewage dump? Well, that would be STUPID, to take stuff that can be treated, etc.... SO far away! A lot of effort for NOTHING! BUT, it IS a toxic waste dump, and DOES have sewage, because it originates THERE from all the projects.

And they HAVE revealed some of the projects that have occurred there which DO explain some of the UFO sightings.

WOW, could you imagine them having an area extending for miles, blocking satellites, etc... to make them LOOK secretive? Heck, look at First Atomic Bomb Dropped on Japan; Missile Is Equal to 20,000 Tons of TNT; Truman Warns Foe of a 'Rain of Ruin' ! It tells of how President Truman tried to convince the Japanese that the US DID have a secret, and they should surrender. Apparently the rather abruptly said no. And the rest is history.

Yeah, the cat has been out of the bag for quite some time. The US has to have secrets because everyone else does, and they do because they know we do, etc...

And WHY do they use Area 51, though it is now known? Well, they CLAIM some stuff is moved anyway, but it was established, is a good area for testing a lot of things, and is FAR away from people which is good for a LOT of reasons. They couldn't do it in the middle of LA, for example. And it is treated like the sterile area of an airport. At least the THEORY is that they don't have to worry about anyone because people won't betray secrets, etc... Of course, the TSA is replaced by a simple armed military infrastructure, and a wide area spy system with armed guards that can have snipers kill you if you try to, or manage to, overpower them. Sometimes it is NICE to reveal a few secrets. Knowing they have snipers won't help you because it would be impossible to be sure you see all of them. The same is true of the cameras.

Since this video has not been shared here, I will. I've seen it several times long before today and am very interested with conspiracy theories, like 9/11, Haiti earthquake [it most probably wasn't real. I've learned that they have technology to simulate earth quakes by pumping waves into the ground and this HAARP thing that can modify jetstreams or something to make it rain or not. There's a lot of interesting things out there that have many evidences to show that they are true, which I strongly believe. Those who have not seen such videos will say otherwise, like 'anti-government', I for one believe that we should not be brainwashed by the media. They have very clever tactics to manipulate our minds. Well here's the video:

This is what I call doom and gloom.

Every time Area 51 is mentioned... suddenly aliens! Say 51 and -bam- the moon landings are fake. Talk about a desert with a facility in it and it always must have SECRETS.

Someday the mysterious "THEY" will decommission Area 51 and Nancy Drew type investigators will find nothing but empty warehouses.

    Obviously it was - ALIENS!

And when aliens get mentioned, 2012 decides to jump in with it's 'end of the world' and 'Mayan calendar'

Frankly, I am so sick of this gloom. I wish I could look past the doom and gloom to profit off the believers of this kind of stuff but I just can't.

You know why I can't? Because it sucks the energy out of me.

I used to visit survivalists sites and I was doing just that last night, now I feel all depressed because I don't have my own atomic bunker filled with MREs and guns.

But it doesn't stop with conspiracy, aliens, and 2012. According to them survivalists you can't trust the Federal gov'meant and the Chinese are supposed to be invading now because the Russians did not do it back in 'Nam.

Well that's enough internet for me today.
Well, I have been hearing about all this stuff since the late 1960s. THEY/THEM exist and can't be trusted. They ALWAYS claim they can. and it is myth, but I have almost 50 years of PERSONAL evidence that proves their claim of innocence WRONG! OF COURSE, after they decommission area 51, if they EVER do, it will appear to be an empty shell. They SAME is true of the old missle silos. Are THEY fake?

Aliens or not, they might as well be. The ONLY two fears of aliens are really Advanced technology, and not having any skin in the game. Politicians and the military are IDENTICAL in that respect! GRANTED, there is the idea of some contagion spread by accident, and pollution, but those are often not even mentioned, unless done on PURPOSE!

2012 was mentioned LITTLE, if ANY at all.

If YOU could, wouldn't YOU try to have some way to counter an attack? I built up a way to counter a certain LOGISTICAL attack against me, and it LITERALLY saved my life about 3 times! I rode things out while I fought to fix the problem. I STILL have to fight longer. THEY might think I can do so for only a month. The joke is on them, it is more like a year.

As for WHY they are attacking me, they like the powerride, getting an extra $60/month, etc... One got all upset on the pretense that they weren't getting an extra $8000 or so a year on TOP of that!

Anyway, my point is that you CAN'T trust the government!

Heysal s apparently at least partially right. If she is, MOST will need to prepare for things in ways that they CAN'T! FURTHER, most that CAN may be killed by others that DIDN'T!

At least you have beautiful hair! Thats all that really matters!

Im in the club too, because all three of mine are beautiful!

getting back to the primary topic of the conversation...
the fact that I'll never be able to see Area 51 (which is most likely) makes me a bit depressed as well
maybe there's something about those movies that makes us feel so

There have always been people harboring secrets or up to no good. Getting depressed over that wouldn't help you or anyone else.

The following video is an interview with a woman who claims to have been an alien who crash landed in Roswell in her previous life. Yes, I know...go ahead and laugh. I'm not saying it's true, but it's interesting and worth checking out if you're into this topic.

OK - ROFLMAO!!! The self-perpetuating UFO hoax is perhaps the best design in Cold War intrigue, espionage, disinformation, and propaganda which has effectively obscured the most impressive feats of aeronautical engineering that have ever been accomplished in history. It worked far beyond all imagination of its propagators, because even now no one really "knows" ... for sure - do they?

That is among the NEGATIVE admissions I spoke of. They said area 5 wasNOT alien in ANY way. The ONLY recorded evidence of UFOs being openly admitted is in roswell, and they quickly recanted that.

If "sanni ceto" were an alien hybrid, it would likely be EASILY disproved if false. I'm a bit different, and knew before I was like 5! Apparently, I'm HUMAN! My HUMAN mother was obviously my mother, and I take after my father enough that I know he is my father. How much quicker would a hybrid know that s/he was different? "sanni ceto" sounds like a stupid hypocrite! And why would the concept of time be difficult? female unit!?!?!? Someone has watched too many coneheads episodes, etc..... OH MAN is this phony! And Bees, indeed the whole concept of queens, are contrary to what she says her ideal is.

Of course, HERE it is easier disproved if FALSE! After all, I knew a girl once that was born with TWELVE fingers. Of course two were likely not functional, and vestigial, so they cut them off after she was born. There is at least one man that still has all 12 fingers HE was born with. But I'm betting sanni didn't beat milestones, have any odd tricks, and doesn't have any obvious anatomical differences.

Oh shoot. It is finished, and I am too bored to go on. 8-?

You REALLY have to wonder about this sort of thing. But HEY, I went to a mental ward once, as a favor to a woman, to basically visit her husband who was a patient there. While there, I met several people claiming to be Jesus Christ, and other ..um....HISTORICAL figures.

And who could forget the likes of david koresh, etc...?

MYOB, admittedly that video is a bit farfetched, but do you really think ALL UFOs are a hoax? I'm sure some are governmental, but I also think some are from other places.

Steve, it's hard to prove something is false, especially when someone claims it was from another life.

They said she is a hybrid! The use of odd terms like "female unit", the talk of freedom, etc... and THEN saying a hierarchy of queens is better, the idea of humans being able to handle an infant that can then be pulled out and put into an artificial solution such as that, that they would insist that the mother love the child in some hypnagogic state, the idea that the mother would wait so long to unsuccessfully kill the child.... It sounds like some stupid comic written by some poor author, rather than a real thing. OH, and the idea of a lack of ability to convert time, etc... If such a concept is so difficult, why believe ANYTHNG? HELL. if I wanted to convey the idea she wanted to convey, I might say she was a host and mitochondrial donor.

Some times, some of the stuff is WAY out there.

UFOs are simply unidentified flying objects. The almost universal tendency for people to immediately conclude unidentified objects have extraterrestrial origins is a perfect cover for military aeronautics, practical jokers, hucksters, and marketers in this niche. As we have seen just in this thread, people want to believe the "hoax" and convince themselves without much effort.

You can't prove a negative - if something didn't happen there's no proof.

That's why so many conspiracy theories and wild conjectures get traction - they can postulate whatever they want, pick and choose (and create) to provide "proof" - and it's difficult to debunk it in people's minds.

I think most, if not all, people talking about "aliens" are creating their own fiction. YouTube is a great platform for that.

However, in my mind it's arrogant to assume we on this planet are the only - or the best - life form in the universe.

Still, I saw a comedy where a group came up with their own "alien language". When aliens finally landed, they figured HERE was their chance! They went to talk to aliens, in their "alien language". You know what the aliens said? "Sorry bud, it sounds like gibberish to me!"! If an unusual choice of words makes no logical sense, but matches movies of the genre, it is most likely a VERY poor attempt at fabrication!

And human fetuses lack some abilities, and have some problems, that mean it is HIGHLY unlikely that putting them in a fluid will not allow them to have a fair chance of survival. Besides, if you have SUCH control, you can do what us feeble humans do and simply ride it out until the baby CAN be extracted.

And, like I said, some of the sensibilities, etc... were just NUTS! BESIDES, f it is SO superior in special capability and moralities, why have ANY government or hierarchy? There HAVE been little pockets of HUMAN society that have run with virtually NO leader and run WELL! Are you going to say that even SOME humans are better than YOUR species? FINE, then I will take humanity!

Yeah, can you imagine! A guy manages to knock an alien out!!!!!!! He is in the middle of NOWHERE, with NOBODY for MILES around! THEN, he sees all these people that are SCRAMMING from the ALIENS! He has to convince them to drive him where they say the maps show NOTHING!

THEN, he has to get past the gates, and LUCKILY the carcass of the alien is enough to let him pass. THEN he goes to the main area, and the PRESIDENT tells them they are nuts! If not for the situation, and the fact that the old man and president insisted that THEIR views were right, the guy wouldn't have said "UH...Mr President? That is not ....um... EXACTLY true!". They work for DECADES under the cover that they prepare for this day, and then they act like they don't exist!!!!!! TYPICAL!

Area 51 was the first facility to test the Stealth Bombers capabilities which was first witnessed by the world in the Bosnia crisis. So some of the secrets kept within area 51 will be released to the public and some will remain shrouded until declassified decades down the road.
