Unable to login to Windows 7 PC - possible virus?

This is the email I got from an overseas freelancer. Do you have any solutions?

My pc was unlocked because it automatically restart after installing ESET anti-virus which is one of the bonus application software of my motherboard. Then now, I can't login to my windows 7 PC using my password. Actually, I google to resolve the issue and tried to get password reset professional program but still it doesn't work. I might think that the password reset disk(USB drive) I used has a virus since it was not detected in my unlocked pc.

    Did you mean th "pc was locked"? If the password reset disk does not work, you can use an Ubuntu Live CD to unlock it. You can also use Hiren's Boot CD. You will have to download them and burn them to CD as an ISO. You could do this using Nero, Power ISO or ISO Recorder. Boot from the CD and follow the on screen options.

    (Also, there might be some type of nasty rootkit preventing you from accessing file, there's a million malware programmers now adays and it's hard to stay on top of things).

    Lucky for you, good old Microsoft (I love M$) has a free rootkit scanner:
