This made me a Pink Floyd fan...

I was working at the Cleveland Tux store at Beldon Village Mall in North Canton Ohio in the summer of '72.

On pay day of my first week the assistant manager gets his check and cashes at the bank down the way. Goes across the way from the store the music store and buys this album.
Brings it back to the store and puts on the store system, on this cut, CRANKED UP!

I was hooked!

Pink Floyd was almost two different bands: Syd Barrett era, post-Syd Barret era. The Wall album (after Richard Wright was squeezed out) almost seemed as if it was a third band.

Love it. I think "dark side of the moon" hooked me. Then I had to check out previous albums, and of course anything after that. I still love this one.

And then there was the Mark IV - the post Waters band:

Think about what the OP just said. I sometimes almost forget that I lived in that world. I like this world better with all this information at our fingertips to enjoy and share nearly at the speed of thought.

There's hardly anything by Floyd I don't like. Even most of the band members solo efforts were pretty good. However, I'm not overly keen on post Barret/Waters Floyd. Gilmour's an ace guitarist and that's about it for me.

Here's a cool Barret solo number. Not everyone's cup of tea I suppose but I love it.

Found Bowie doing "see Emily play" while looking for the Barret song. Pretty ****ing brilliant.
