Some people get careless and, even with dogs they don't know, they act like the dog is some mindless toy. Frankly, if I were the dog, I would be fed up ALSO, and then a stranger comes in to do who knows what? This dog was saved from an icy lake by a firefighter, and this is what happened with the careless anchorwoman. apparently the dog got her lip, and she ended up in the hospital...

How dumb do you have to be to stick your face in the face of a strange dog? Even lifelong pets can have a bad day.

Agreed. You should never approach a strange dog like that!

You're nuts! How would YOU react if someone made a stabing motion with a knife close to your face? From the dog's point of view, that is what happened. She threatened it!

Times like these is when the forum needs a dislike button.
Maybe someone should throw you in a lake?

OMG! Why she approached to the face of a strange dog, its the nature of a dog to bite strangers, and she should be careful about.

      This is true, LeeLee!

When I was younger, we had a parrot named Sinbad and whenever anyone gave him kisses, he always made kisses noise back. It was so cute.

One day I went through the routine and he lunged forward, latched onto my lip and wouldn't let go.

Did he puncture my lip? No. Did he draw blood? No. Did it hurt? Yes, a little, like someone pinched my lip.

Did he ever get kisses from me again? NO!

Haha, I did cry though, but only because he hurt my feelings, lol!

I've toughened up a bit since then.

Yes she was insensitive. Who needs a big clue the dog has been traumatized by the episode and now he is on television with strange people etc. - with that said i would be the one always trying to kiss his cheek or get a licked face - but after I knew him a little better (I never kiss on the first date).

If you listen (if you can still find) the video of the actual byte, she really pulled it off though like a real veteran - I could hear her in the background going something like 'ok', 'ok' - (like don't interrupt the show) and not knowing how serious the bite was or how bad it was going to look - anybody would be horrified.

My son's dog is exactly the same mastif and pit but he is brindle colored. He is a sweet dog named Brute - and remind me not to kiss him next time I see him.

The dog should be thrown back into the lake.
Nah - should throw the woman in.

You do not look directly into the face of a strange dog who does not know you. You do not lunge at his face with your kissy lips.

If you watch dogs greet each other or a strange dog - they slowly reach and touch noses. They don't jump into the other dog's face as that's a signal of aggression to a dog.

Clearly the woman likes dogs - but doesn't have a lick of sense about them.

Well, it is a common way of effectively "elevating" them to the level of humans. I have heard ALL sorts of theories as to why humans are better/different. I have shot EVERY one down!
