Sorry, but the other answer would have been none.

Don't listen to much rap anymore. However in the 6th grade, I was a huge Eazy E and NWA fan.

What the heck is Honey Singh?? I looked him up on youtube and that was so awful, sounded more like screeching annoying r&b club music lol. Must be a cultural thing...

      awesome choices!!

I mainly listen to metal and hard rock but always listenws to "good hip hop" (i.e. none of this crap played today). Hard for me to choose #1 rapper off hand, as a whole for lyrics and raw grittiness I'd have to say Wu-Tang. But here's some good ones off the top of my head:

Lupe's old stuff was way better then his new stuff:

Sticky from Onyx was always great, and this song is flat out insane with Redman and others. They put a whole court case together, if you listen to the lyrics and what goes on it's crazy how they pulled this off, 100% pure skill.

Gotta love The Roots since they primarily use live instruments:

      Mos Def:

and of course some old' Wu:

-The one who was there when it all started.
-When they said rap was only a fad that would never last.
      - Only teens in the ghetto will buy it.
-He took the early hits to pave the way for P.Diddy, JayZ and Lil Wayne and an army of twenty something milliionaires.

      Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rapping - refers to "spoken or chanted rhyming lyrics". It was part of the African American dialect of English in the 1960s meaning "to converse", and very soon after that in its present usage as a term denoting the musical style.[10] Today, the terms "rap" and "rapping" are so closely associated with hip hop music that many use the terms interchangeably.

Rapping can be traced back to its African roots. Centuries before hip hop music existed, the griots of West Africa were delivering stories rhythmically, over drums and sparse instrumentation.

I respect your opinion, but I'm not sure if NWA, a group that broke up 20 years ago should shoulder the blame for today's wayward school systems. I'm I missing something here.

I can't name one favorite rapper, I have too many to list.

I can't stand today's "rappers" though, like Lil Wayne, Soulja Boy, etc...

Nas (illmatic is hands down one of the best rap albums of all-time)
    Tribe Called Quest
    Old Outkast (southernplayalisticcadillacmuzik)
    Wu-Tang (36 chambers days)
    Mos Def
    Talib Kweli
    GangStarr

"Rap Music" is not music but it is a cleverly marketed euphemism disguised to give the obnoxious noise societal legitimacy.
My opinion of course....in other words it is unadulterated oven fresh crap!

It's funny, that's the same thing older people used to say about Rock n' Roll in the early 1950's. Check it out.

There are a few rappers that have meaningful lyrics, but most don't. Most just talk about all the cars they have, and how they're rich, and all the girls they sleep with "you spin my head right round, right round, when you go down.""She lick me like a lollipop." Both those songs are gross! I don't wanna hear about these guys' blowjobs. Plus, it's tainting Americas youth. They're growing up thinking it's cool and socially acceptable to call women "sluts" and "bitches."
