The International Silver String Submarine Band.

They were really popular in an earlier generation, but not so much now...

Favorite band ever and favorite song ever?

My friend, if you can really nail that down with any real certainty, you have
lived a very shallow and sad life.

No, no Steve - this is not a rhetorical question...we are actually going to put you on a deserted island with a solar powered ipod that only has 1 song on it, and the earphones have been glued to your ears with superglue, and the song is on repeat, and there is no way or destroy the ipod, or you will die -
        Now choose...
        - or we will shoot this dog*

(*and make it snappy, huh? - it's almost time for his walk...)

(Note: No dogs were harmed in the making of this post...yet)

Brilliant musician, one of my favorites as well. Underrated in my opinion.

Aw man, I didn't know Rory passed on. Great guitarist. My favorite Gallagher song was his cover of Out on the Western Plain.

As for a favorite song and band . . . impossible for me to say. So much depends on the mood one is in. Recently discovered current favorites are hard to put into a historical context.

As for the deserted island scenario proposed by 3m, any song would get tiring and drive you crazy after a while, so I'd probably elect a "sounds of nature" type recording. I think that would preserve my sanity the longest before I chose death over listening one more time.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

woah! that's really kicking up a notch! Well, in that case, if I can't take out that Earphone off my ear, might as well end it with "I don't Want To Miss a Thing" by Aerosmith or "I'm Here Without You" by 3 Doors Down. Either of the two.

Man, folks might poke fun at me for this one, but I always liked Chicago...especially the songs sung by Terry Kath - too bad he died before he could really enjoy the large success of Chicago.

Various bands are there and different people had a different choice regarding the bands. Dogwood, NoFx, CKY are some of my favorite bands while Chariots of Fire and Somewhere Over The Rainbow are my favorite songs of all time.

"I Am The Walrus" - The Beatles

    Easy question.

Now, what would round out my Top 5, Top 10, Top 100, Top 1000? That would be much more difficult.

    Rock on!

Personally I have a list of bands from the Beatles to The Graham Bond organization

Jazz bands to rock bands, to country and western, to blues songs...difficult but on reflection for pure genius and prolific song writing The Beatles.
    Eleanor Rigby is a classic.

Mine is "The Beatles". I love every single song of them. I love the way they put their heart and soul into their lyrics and music. My favorite song by them is "In My Life". The lyrics of this song mean a lot to me and reflect a sincere honesty about love and life.
