      Haha!

That one almost made me spit out my coffee!

For me, I learned to always find the fun in everything that you do so life doesn't end up being a drag.

No clue. My younger brother and 2 sisters are horrible at times. So I got a feeling I raised myself, and not my parents.
If it weren't because I bate bargain, I think my mom would teach me that a price could always get reduced. And if she could get away with it, even in the mall. But that's not the case. Luckily for me.

  • My Mother taught me to be a freethinker...

Though she was raised in a very Catholic household, and taught us the principles that we should all abide by...and hoped we would follow them, she never discouraged the right to ask questions about it, or question why...

When I was in Catholic school, the Nuns would always chastise me, for "disrupting" by asking too many questions...and my Mum always defended my right to do that -

Though a very quiet, refined, and soft spoken lady, she was also very well-read and knowledgeable about a great many things, was not afraid to speak up when she saw a wrongdoing, and not afraid to confront it, and speak her mind. She believed in civic duty, and social responsibility...and the human condition.

    She was a Renaissance Woman.

She encouraged enlightenment, happiness, and goodness...and tried to lead by example.

And I will forever miss her beautiful smile...

  • @lucy520 -

Meaningless newbie spam is annoying enough...but when you just type a poignant little heartfelt about your Mum...

then someone types "Funny · ·~"

    Man...that's just Rude!

    (victim of bad timing?)

I miss my Mom's cooking. I am a fair cook, but I didn't learn it from my Mom and I certainly cannot duplicate the quality of her cooking... Although, she DID get me my first "real" job, in a restaurant when I was about 15 years old. That definitely helped to advance my cooking skills. But there are recipes I do wish I had learned from her.

My mom made the best goulash.. and chili. She had one guy come every week to a flea market concession stand she ran and buy the entire pot of chili to go..

She worked short order for many years.. never followed a recipe, just a pinch of this and that.

I am close to her spaghetti sauce and have had people actually beg me to cook spaghetti for them but the sauce is still missing something hers had..
