fighting for food, medication, freedom.... that i get... but SHOES...
    wtf

A lot of my clients are in orlando, so i spend some time there, and some parts are definitely turning into a cesspool. It is really a shame.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

Rioting over shoes is stupid. But these aren't just any shoes - they're glow in the dark shoes.

I wonder why people aren't going ape s*** over the children's shoes that have LEDs in them.

Alot of them are NOT glow in the dark. I don't think THESE were. And WHEN have they done this for the LED shoes?

I'm willing to bet Nike is very happy with the results.

    Bonuses for everyone!

Nike is perfecting the marketing and their launches. It's happened in the past. It happened again. It will more than likely happen in the future.

Personally, I find everything about it revolting.

Game consoles also follow the same marketing model. Hype the hell out of it. Create an artificial supply shortage, get the media to report about the long lines to create free advertising that would normally cost hundreds of millions to buy.

That's nice that Nike offered a discount to the people who made the shoes.

That's very inciteful. I mean insightful. How many of us can say that our product launches have led to riots. Riots sure do generate buzz.

My we have programmed our good little consumer stock herds well. I can't believe our society has become so mindless. I wonder how many of those people foaming at the mouth over these things ever think twice about the abuse of sweat shop labor that goes on to produce them. What a disappointing species we are.

The news coverage certainly offsets a big chunk of advertising costs. This extra exposure was undoubtedly a part of their marketing plan.
