My phone needs to be rooted but I'm worried I might damage it.

Has anyone here rooted their android phone, and how did you do it?

My phone is a motorola defy.

Cheers

Brian

Yeah definitely! I have had a Desire and now a Sensation. There are SO many better ROMs out there than stock. If you head over to XDA Developers the forum is SO good and packed full of good stuff.

I did completely destroy my first Sensation but I flashed the wrong Kernel.

Google Your Phone Make and XDA Developers it should get you right to the right sub forum!

    Good Luck!

As I have heard, it is really really small change that you do some permanent damage to your phone....

Think you meant "chance" but yeh, as long as you follow instructions on XDA (and also read through some of the threads especially for ROM's as there's can be various combo's of flashes and kernals etc) then your good to go. Today if you do have an issue, it's very easy to fix if something does happen.

I've had a few different android phones over the past couple years and have rooted and installed custom ROMs on each of them within a week of getting them. Just spend a day or so reading the How-To guides over on the XDA Developers forums. If you follow the instructions its fairly simple and safe.

    Australian Slang.

    from: Australian slang dictionary

Root (verb and noun) : synonym for f*ck in nearly all its senses: "I feel rooted"; "this washing machine is rooted"; "(s)he's a good root". A very useful word in polite company.
