Hmmm... US has been doing this for a long time already,

I guess its the UKs turn to get bent over

I am starting wonder if my grandchildren will actually have any "rights"
when they enter the world.

"The government will be able to monitor the calls, emails, texts and website visits of everyone in the UK under new legislation set to be announced soon."

Everyone should each setup 1,000 emails & have them all forward the email in a loop, ha, ha, wild goose chase.

If people get smart they will quit having kids to be born into complete slavery. Let them sort out their mental illness and correct the state of leadership first. If we go extinct because they can't figure it out, we're not ready to be here anyway.

Sorry, I don't know how to give you a 1,000,000,000 thanks! SERIOUSLY! I have heard people BRAG about having the most people. DUMB! I have also seen people conspiring to REDUCE the population! HECK, I saw a youtube video yesterday that said some interesting things that are TRUE, and make me wonder if THAT had a part in HIVs creation. If so, it is scary and probably STILL ill planned.

Anyway, as I KID(Seriously, even when I was about 5), I felt bringing kids into the world would be dumb. It is even worse now.

It is ironic that the Bible speaks against SO much of this stuff. Say what you will, even if you are an ATHEIST, but stories like the tower of babbel should have given people pause. Granted it was more abstract than the idea of a major collapse, like on 911, or the atom bomb on hirosima and nagasaki, but it still should have been considered. Another more direct, but not allowed one, here was BY ITSELF resposnible for WWII, 911, may wars today, slavery, almost every riot for the past 100 years(including the recent ones in the UK, and US), etc.... Just one little paragraph!

I always thought planet of the apes was a work of fiction. NOW, it looks like a prediction that is VERY real.

You MIGHT be right! It is IMPOSSIBLE to do either without hooking code into the webservers and email servers. The bt system used today to tie the network together basically isolates all routes to that segment. That means that a segment with a mask of 255.255.255.0 can only handle 255 systems. If the number of systems is too broad, it can bring instantaneous performance down to essentially nothing. So they couldn't even detect the REQUEST! And, a site, like google, may have different types of content.

Even the idea of using a registry wouldn't work, even in part, because your system never requests the info from a registry. It requests from a nameserver that eventually requests from the registry.

So the government would have to modify email servers and webservers to do this, or at least require promiscuous code to be placed under the OS. IT could then use the referenced name, and port, to try to determine the pages accessed. Even THEN, they might have to be accessed via an IP at a given time and with a given password, so it won't be perfect.

Yes, let's go extinct, that'll show 'em! And they'll only really get the point...when they're already dead.

The US said they WOULD do it. I GUARANTEE that the whole of that law has NOT been done yet! If they intercepted email yet, they have spent needless money to add a meaningless feature to a protocol that should be REWRITTEN!!!!

Steve, maybe I am paranoid or just plain crazy ( I'm sure some here think so anyways ),but I think that most of the time the government has already done something before they even tell us about it.
Have they fully implemented these actions, probably not,but they are monitor almost all forms of communications for certain words and statements, that has been admiited to by various security agencies.

There is so much i want to say here. Half of it will make me sound like
a complete nutter, the other half would prob get this thread removed.

I will say this, They CAN and DO, do a whole lot more then we give them credit for. They even have pretty little code names for them as well.

Neither. You are astute. I'll go further. Anything that is transmitted digitally is on one big NSA hard drive and has been for many, many years. They collect and store it all, trigger keywords or not. Two of the things that got JFK whacked were his E.O. for the treasury to start putting out currency without the Fed being involved and he was going to break up the CIA to a large extent.

Don't forget this world wide webby thing was handed to us by the military and the military is the head of the NSA. Look into how the CIA got started after WWII, and who started it and the Gestapo they asked for help from. And look into NASA and all of the former Nazis, like von Braun who was an ardent Nazi and SS member (despite the whitewash job done).

No, not paranoid or crazy. They record everything. I remember giving brits crap online over a decade ago about all of the CCTVs they had. Well, we got 'em now too. Where I live, they are going up at intersections like crazy. For people running red lights they say. Sure. They can now track you in your vehicle is what it boils down to.

Do you have ANY idea how many exabytes that must be?

Gigabyte=1 billion bytes. OBVIOUSLY not big enough!
Terabyte=1000 gigabytes OBVIOUSLY not big enough!
Pentabyt=1000 terabytes OBVIOUSLY not nig enough, ssince you at least need history
EXABYTE=1000 pentabytes Is THIS enough to hold all the internet and transactions to the same? Likely not, but at least I don't think it is obviously so.

At least at THIS point this will only take about a billion drives, and the drives would cost maybe $100 billion dollars.

Don't forget this world wide webby thing was handed to us by the military and the military is the head of the NSA. NOPE, it WASN'T! The NSA used technology created by AT&T and expanded by the commercial market, to build the initial concept. It was expanded by the commercial market.

Echelon has been running for at least 10 years now. That doesn't monitor EVERY phone call - but it does record any call that hits a keyword. If millions of Americans got on the phone at the same time and said keywords we could probably mess that system up real bad for awhile. I remember being part of a move that we tried to get people together to fudge that system up every few minutes for a couple of weeks. People couldn't get through their heads that Echelon was real and not some dorks idea of a conspiracy theory.

Then after 9/11 the admin at that current time asked the phone companies to spy on people. People found out and there was a massive attack of lawsuits -- and the President exonerated the phone companies from legal responsibility - even though what they did was illegal, because he had asked them to...as if they shouldn't have and couldn't have just said "uh...that's illegal, No we won't". So we got dumped on and now have monitored phone systems.

I don't need to be doing something wrong to want my privacy. I don't like the thought of some moron sitting off somewhere grinning and fondling himself if I decide to tell a friend something spicy about a guy - it's nobody's business but who I want to tell it to. There's a LOT of perverts that get into this kind of field so they can get their ya ya's off - probably more of a priority for most of em than any kind of security.

And yes - this post did trigger a monitor somewhere. I just hit some really bomb keywords (lol). 5 will get you 10 the chump that reads it has his junk all ready to go after reading the word Pervert and isn't even lookin' at the fact I just typed Echelon, too.

**Aside to paid pervert who monitors this **** -- how much did you just get paid to read this crap?**

Hmmmm....no strikes, riots, protests about this? Have we just given up?

AND WHAT IS THEIR "EXCUSE " FOR THIS?

So "we can monitor" terrorists, etc? Yet biz will also be allowed to profit from it.

It just does not sit right at all. What happened in 2012 wioth all this "we will now monitor and act as judge and jury over everything on the Net from now on in"

LOL yeah remember petrol prices breaking £1.00 (2 years ago) in the UK. Whole sale mass uproar..so they drop the prices by 5p for a month and then rise, rise, rise since (not at £1.40)...nothing said. Hate to say it but we are so gullible it's laughable. Canada has been monitoring calls for a long time. As far back as 95 that I know of for certain. Long before 911.

It has been a part of the war on drugs and now is used for security reasons as well.

I don't mind it. I've heard the soft click and know that something I have said has triggered a recording of my conversation to begin. They will review it and if they are suspicious they will monitor my calls and perhaps myself.

I knew someone who ended up arrested. I would never have suspected this person of their crimes in a thousand years. She was up to no good and the something she said on the phone triggered and put her under investigation. It was good that it happened.

If you are not up to anything bad they will lose interest in you quickly IMO. Don't worry about it if you have nothing to hide.

We probably remain on the radar also, however I doubt they keep watching you if they find nothing.

However, your file will show you were previously investigated I assume and it probably is not a good thing to keep getting on their radar even if you have nothing to hide.

          WTF??

I don't even know where to begin to explain how wrong most of that is...On the smallest scale possible...Have you not heard of Promiscuous Mode for Most Network Cards these days? Go to a coffee shop and have some fun sniffing traffic! Completely illegal most likely where you are but none the less. Have a look at Firesheep (Extension for Firefox) And see how much fun you can have with that... NO Modification of Email servers or any software necessary just the relevant Tier 1 Network Providers to cooperate *cough* BT,Level Three and Global Crossing for example. I'm sure they will provide the relevant info to anyone for the right price ;-)

BT for example already do this to block CP and other such sites. All the big company's sign up to clean feed. How do you think that's done?

Monitoring everyone's e-mail is something which the majority of the public should not fear. The NSA has already been doing this for years in the US and we are not experiencing any particular decline in our freedoms here.

There is so much data constantly being transmitted through the internet it is nearly impossible to monitor what everyone is doing at the same time. Instead they set filters in place to scan all information and flag info that relates to national security.

So although the NSA might be scanning everyone's e-mail, facebook account and twitter they are not really paying attention to the majority of the general public but are looking for individuals disucssing information that could jeapordize United States national security.

Which in the year 2012 means anyone who may be interested in a "non-sanctioned" candidate for election (Are you a Ron Paul fan?)
It means you might own a gun - 2nd Amendment advocate.
It means you might be a passive activist - like trees?
It could mean you don't like the current admin or their laws - against the NDAA?
      You might want cannibus legalized.

In short - anything -- ANYTHING -- seen as opposition to the current admin will get you tagged. Unfortunately, it will now make you unemployable. They don't yet see that they are actually building their own downfall when they make it hard for anyone who opposes them whatsoever to afford housing, food, etc. They need to study their history. It's not when people are scared or upset that they overthrow governments -- it's when they feel they have nothing left to lose.

It boggles my mind that people DON'T understand this.

I just don't understand how a huge majority of people DON'T see it coming.

people don't need to agree, but they sure need to wake up, and use
some deductive reasoning, before everything really does goto hell in a hand basket.

          It's already there.

I've been talking about this for 30 years. For 25 of those years I was called an "alarmist", "fear mongerer", "tinfoil nutcase", "paranoid".

I am rarely called any of those names any more - EXTREMELY rarely. People are waking up. However...........

They keep rattling on about "our rights are slowly being taken away....yadda...yadda."
          Nope.
          Your rights are gone.
That one is going to take people a little more time to figure out.

I was wrong about one thing, though. I thought when it got to the stage it is at now, that there would be civil war. I don't believe that anyone will do anything - even if they start going house to house to confiscate guns - unless the military itself steps in to remove the leaders. There are too many things people should be camped on the DC lawn about by the MILLIONS - and I'm seeing almost no reaction other than a little bitching and whining about it.

Haven't you heard? There IS civil war! YOU just don't see it because it is to gain time and power. They have a NAME for it! FALSE FLAG! And used for Hegelian Dialectics!

In fact, YOU mentioned one of the most obvious, persistant, and invasive ones, in this post!

Where I live, they are going up at intersections like crazy. For people running red lights they say. Sure. They can now track you in your vehicle is what it boils down to."

    BINGO!!

When I watch some news that is showing pictures in the UK I am amazed at how many cameras I see. And sure as s**t,we are heading that way,and everybody just puts up with it.
But then again, Most of the country fell for the"Patriot Act" for our protection while it is anything but.

If you're new here you probably don't know what I have gone through the past few years and I am not looking for sympathy. The reason I mention it at all is that facing my own mortality several times ( there were times the Drs told my wife that there is a good chance I am not going to make it and there were times they flat out told her I shouldn't have made it,but I did) is that it has given me a greater appreciation of life, but it has also made me open my eyes to what is going on in this country. While the era I grew up in wasn't perfect,it was definitely better than what out kids are growing up in now,and the sad thing is they don't know anything different or better.
Because of that I have become more vocal in both supporting certain things and opposing others.
I would be amazed if I wasn't on the radar nowadays. My congressman's public lliason knows who I am and he knows I am not afraid to call and complain. He also knows when they can't or won't do anything they know I am not afraid to tell them they suck.
It took facing my own mortality to stop being herded and start being proud of who I am again.

Well Sal, thats because the general population is like the homeowners associations that I discussed in a different thread.
They are content to pay their dues (in this case let the IRS steal from them) as long as they are basically left alone and its the other person who gets the shaft, not them.
If something happens to their neighbor to the left or them or to the right of them, its absolutely fine,as long as nothing happens to them.

I have to admit, that's exactly how i was

Then the unthinkable happened, i was in the spotlight.

( actually everyone associated with me in any direct, and some indirect ways became interesting to the powers that be. )

Woke me right the F up.

and now that my eyes are open, i cannot believe what i see.

By the way,I had a forum set up where discussions like this could be held without worrying about breaking the rules, but I set it up poorly making it hard to join. When I get enough cash to have a programmer set it up better without the difficult joining/login procedure it will be open to all who want to discuss things like this.

I was going to stay away from this thread because I too fear that I have much to say but it will take a direction that breaks the rules.

So I'll stick to what I hope will not get this thread removed.

Without a doubt, the US citizens are losing freedoms with every piece of legislation passed at midnight that allegedly supports a cause but in fine print and in the middle of a 1,529 page bill, it gets passed.

Most of us will remember in 2006, it was reported that several of the largest communications companies were "monitoring" 200,000,000 people's phone calls.

Take a look at the National Defense Authorization Act.

I've often thought about moving out of this country. One of the reasons I stayed is because of due process. I like the idea that you are supposedly innocent until proven guilty.

The laws keep changing and our rights are disappearing.

I don't buy the fact that the "reason" for these new policies is to make sure we are safe, fight them there so we don't have to fight them here, blah, blah, blah.

What I know is that this is no longer a country I recognize.

I often wonder where there is to go when the excrement hits the air conditioning. Well it hit and the only thing I see is that borders are shut down -- not against people coming in, but right now, if they don't want to let you out, you don't go anywhere. And where do we go anyway? Nobody has the constitution we had. On the other hand - one or two more cracks of the whip and there will be a lot of places better than this one. Once it is unlivable in one place, somewhere else is not so hard to adjust to.

Steve - when I said civil war - I meant actual fighting in the streets. And I don't consider dialectics a form of "war". Marx's dialectics can also be seen advancing quite strongly today, but that isn't the same as guys with guns in trenches or breaking down doors. When I said war - I meant militia.
