"Untraceable" and Cyber Crime Investigation
I've been re-watching "Untraceable" tonight. The movie was rated so-so on Netflix but I really liked it (although it was a little too gory for me). The Internet aspect of it was what I loved.
Did anyone understand Diane Lane's explanation of how the site was always up even though it was constantly being shut down by the authorities? How accurate/realistic is the movie's technical premise? (I'm not at all techie and understood only a portion of the technical premise of story.)
I'm doing some research for a project and need to know: if someone was seriously interested in becoming a cyber crime investigator, how would they go about it and what are the job opportunities in that field -- either privately or publicly with a government law enforcement agency (local, FBI or otherwise)?
I did a quick Google search, but all I found was a list of those organizations selling "get certified as a cyber crime investigator" courses. You know, like those "become certified as a medical billing specialist, transcriptionist, electrician," etc. I'm NOT interested in that. (And yes, I'm a bit too impatient to do a further search at the moment.)
If someone was looking for a "real" job with a law enforcement agency, what kind of education/training would it take to get a job in that field? (And I'm sure it's no two-bit certification from some correspondence/Internet school.)
Thanks for your help.
