Here she comes - Hellooooo Fay

Busy morning here - cut the grass, took a spade and dug an 8 inch deep trench around the back patio (for faster drainage), secured the outdoor furniture. Also delivered a day bed I had given a friend's daughter for their Katrina cottage and helped assemble it. Man, I'm pooped!

All this because TS Fay decided she'd rather go West than NorthWest. The wind shouldn't be much more than a strong thunderstorm but looks like we'll get seriously dumped on by rain tonight and tomorrow. Roads flood fast here as we're at sea level so hope we don't get as much rain as poor Florida did.

Doodah the dog heard some thunder so he's already hiding under the desk - pup Gracie ran out to bark back at the thunder.

I'm making fajitas, have a good book and plenty of work to do - and don't have to leave home for the next 2-3 days - so I'm good for a little storm.

Now if I can just decide what I need first - food or a nap!

Well I hope you fare well and the storm passes by with minimal harm. Stay dry, and stay in one piece I'll count my blessings that I live in Idaho and only have to worry about a world ending cataclysmic volcano erupting every few thousand years or so, as opposed to multiple annual hurricanes, tropical storms, tornadoes, floods and blizzards. heck, one big blow out and I wouldn't even know I had anything to worry about as I'd be vaporized.

At any rate, Good luck Kay.

      Good luck Kay!

Hope it doesn't get too bad for you and passes quickly.

Hang in there, Kay and get everything high and make sure you have what you'll need in case of emergency. This baby is packing a lot of rain in it!

Keep us posted on how your doing.

Sounds like a nice storm from where you sit - not the havoc of Katrina, but enough to keep you inside and relaxed for awhile - good book, cup of tea by the picture window to watch the lightning with the pups at your feet (or in your lap if they are like mine). Storms can be quite rejuevinating when they aren't strong enough to knock your world around. Have a nice night!

I think I've discovered the secret.

Fay has taken a little jog north so we'll get rain but hopefully won't be flooded.

The secret is that every storm I fully prepare for seems to then turn a bit and just brush by our coast here.

The only tropical storm or hurricane that I failed to make advance preparations for was Katrina - and look what happened!

              Hi Kay,

Thanks God you seems to escaped yourself from harms. I feel together with you although I inhabit it on place where so extreme storms did not appear only several floods were, but I was left out from them.

Very good, if the man can prepare himself for the similar cases.

              Take care,

              Sandor

Of course, it's like taking an umbrella with you to prevent rain. :-) Hope the storm doesn't hit anything important over there. Good luck.

It looks like tourists have been asked to leave the Florida Keys, Kay. That's probably standard, but makes it sound like one to take warning of - not sure where you sit on that path. Hopefully, you are correct and will just get your plants watered.

                    Sal -

I've worried a bit about Thom - his bike trip took him right into the storm. Hope it didn't mess up his vacation too much.

I heard from him a few days ago so he was with us fine and dandy up til then. Not sure if he was having as much fun as he had hoped though. I'm thinking the approach of Fay might cut the trip short, though. I'm sure it's hard to ride a motorcycle in a hurricane. If he's not back in here by September 1st we might have to send George Sepich to look for him in the poppy fields in OZ. LOL.

He used to live in Florida - not sure how long, but it seems like he'd have some experience with this sort of thing so don't worry about him. Just be ready to offer some empathy that the trip wasn't sunny and warm. That's a real bite in his shiny metal ass.
