Please pray for my little kitty!

This is my 10 month old cat Franklin. He hasn't been his normal self lately so 3 weeks ago we took him to the vet. He was on antibiotics but hasn't improved and hasn't been eating and sleeps 24 hours a day (much more than he used to) so we took him back in today and did every test imaginable. While we don't get the blood work back till tomorrow to know what is exactly going on, the x-ray wasn't good. He has enlarged kidneys, which could mean any number of things, but really the best case scenario is he has a disease which we can cure (hoping it's not a congenital life threatening defect but it's highly possible. Either way, would you mind keeping him in your thoughts and prayers over the next few days? Thanks.

I'm not a cat person, but talking to another forum member I learned cats get kidney failure too. From what I understand it was semi treatable,so if thats what they say, don't give up hope.

Aw, man. Having that happen to a pet is just as bad as having it happen to a human family member. Hope everything works out Ashera, I'll send up a prayer for your kitty.

Me too Ashera - I'll send up a prayer for your cat. I'm no cat lover, but I do know that pets can be like family.

Due to the current pandemic I will no longer be shaking hands or giving hugs. You may wave, bow to me or give me the finger...your choice.

    Aww poor baby. He's cute.

I am a cat person and I know that most cat ailments can be treated these days just like humans. There's even treatment for Feline AIDS, so there's almost always something that can be done. You'll just have to decide how much the treatment will enhance/maintain his quality of life.

My Odie Girl was 9 when she was diagnosed with kidney disease and lived to be 15. Since Franklin is such a young kitty I'm sure they have a treatment for whatever ails him and he'll be up and around in no time.

    Wait...AIDS has spread to cats?

S*** I need to get educated. I thought it was a primarily primate/human disease.

It's really bad- it's the equivalent to Aids in humans, slightly different makeup -it's called FIV- Feline immunodeficiency virus . Dogs can be born with something similar immunodeficiency diseases as well. All cat's get the FIV vaccine when there little.

I'm so sorry, Ashera. It's heartbreaking when small innocent kids get so sick. I'm adding my hope for your kid to the pack here.

Guys, very sad news. Franklin passed away peacefully in his sleep last night. The blood screen came back and he had a very aggressive form of Lymphoma.

RIP to lil Franky. He lived a happy but short life, and was loved unconditionally.

...and that's what counts. I've lost a couple of pets when they were very young and it's comforting to know you did all you could for him.

Ah - this is news that none of us wanted to hear. I only wish there was something we could do to lessen the pain. Animals are patient - he'll wait across the divide for you.

We're holding up OK. Just sharing memories and pictures of the little man, lots of tears. We miss him a lot. He was honestly the sweetest animal I've ever met and did nothing but love until he left us. He was so strong - barely showed any signs of cancer besides sleeping a little bit more than usual and a slight loss of appetite. He lived his short 10 month old life to the fullest and gave and got nothing but love. Thank you all for the kind and supportive words.
