PayPal Scam!!

I got an email today saying it was from paypal. I know most of you would pick up on this but nonetheless I thought if I could save someone from getting robbed it would be worth posting. Once you click on the activate link you can put anything for user - password and it will go to page asking for your info. What kind of dick would run this operation!

  • Same kind of dick that would send viruses all over the net and hack into other people's stuff.

    Yep - this is an old one, but maybe it's good that it's been posted again for the newbies who aren't up to stat yet. It's easy to forget how confused some people are when they first land in here. And that's another reason it's good to be here - because there are more people here to help you NOT get scammed than there are who are scammers.
  • I get an email about some activation thing like twice per month on my hotmail, iti s ridiculous. It directs to paypal.net, guessing someone bought it trying to fool people by its name. It is pretty dumb, but I guess it's working since they keep sending it out. Hopefully this BS stops soon!
  • One thing that paypal never does is address you as paypal member. They always use your name in their real emails. Even then, it is never safe to go to paypal or any merchant account via an email. Just go to the site from a new browser window.

    Just stating what most of us already know. But if you don't know... learn it now.

  • I use Firebird Paul and it gives me warnings when I click links that aren't Hoyle, too.

    • I figured it out. If you click "Ignore this warning" you can go right to the site.
