Bagless Vacuum Cleaners

Are bagless vacuum cleaners really an improvement? Personally, I curse whatever genius invented them. Now I have to deal with dust, hair, and crap every time I empty out the vacuum cleaner, sometimes I get a face full of it, sometimes it falls on the floor. Can't stand them.

LOL! I just finished fighting with one.

To answer your question: I used to think canister vacuum cleaners were better. With no bag to change you saved a little money, however with cats and boys, the filter is always full.

So not only do I have to empty the canister but now I have to clean or replace this paper accordion caked with dust, dander and hair. That's just the stuff I know about.

I live in a house with 4 males, 3 of whom are under 12. There's really no telling what's hovering around my face when I'm emptying the canister. I usually ignore the possibilities but now that you got me thinking about it...

OMG. Now I'm all grossed out. Thanks

The only bagless I've used is the Dyson my son has. I loved it - you just hold it over the trash and a trigger releases the bottom of the container and the crap falls out. Others may not be as efficient - I'm too cheap to buy a Dyson...and not neat enough to need one:rolleyes:

I am no expert on this but my wife has bugged me for years to get a Dyson. Its just hard for me to justify that kind of money for a vacuum cleaner.
But she has used a friends for years and she swears it is the best out there.
Of course, I remember the days when THE vacuum to own was an Electrolux and they were sold door to door for a very high dollar price.
Maybe the cost of the Dyson IS worth it to a lot of people.

The problem I had with the Dyson myself was the high level of "vacuum" it creates. It's great on carpet but was hard to move on the hard floors because the suction was so strong. Did a fantastic job, though.

To me it is. The Dyson made vacuuming a chore that I actually wanted to do. The floors are so clean !

I like my bagless vacuum cleaner. It has a clear reservoir that allows me to see if it accidently sucked up a LEGO.

If I suck up a LEGO it was no accident.

My rule is "If you left it on the floor you didn't want it". I don't really care about the bedrooms but main living area is a clutter-free zone that I'm rather strict about. It's either that or have my house smelling like old socks.

I think I will look into a Dyson or the Shark Navigator Upright which has many of the same features without the hefty price.

      Edit:

After I posted, I saw the two postings before.

So women should be reading when they do Kegels? So I too have been doing it wrong all these years. Hmm.. you do learn something new everyday.

I used to sell Dyson's years ago when they first were becoming popular when I was an undergrad.

Customer often complained about the fact that they were very bulky. There are (there were when I was selling them) better less expensive alternatives out there.

    I've been known to...

    In my teenage years...

Dammit, none of my jokes are clean enough for this forum! I went for shock factor on here. Surprisingly, most orders are coming from me linking on other forums so I figured I'd try something different to get some eyes on the offer here. Let's vacuum this up and get back on topic :p.
