Happy Mothers Day to All Warrior Mothers

If you can't see this picture clearly or figure it out:

The Poor Egg:

He is trying to give his mother a Mothers Day Card

But she is Roasted.
(obviously an unfit mother)

For me, I am having a rare date with my son - I am taking the ferry to San Francisco where he will meet me and we will play tourist in our home town - Going to the newly renovated Cliff House at the Pacific Ocean and then through Golden Gate Park to the Haight Ashbury. At some point we will have lunch and then I will take the ferry home.

I hope you all have a wonderful day and everybody treats you good!

Sounds like a great day, Pat!

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mother Warriors.

    Mother Warrior.

    Sounds ominous!

My wife doesn't know it yet but I'm taking her to her favorite place in the world to shop - Pier 1 Imports - and turning her loose with the checkbook. After that it's fine dining ... in a cave!

Okay, it's not really a cave, it's a building made to look like a mine shaft with a big mine chamber where the seating is. There are ore cars and other "mine" relics. It's about 50 miles from here. It's a fun place to eat with great service and yummy food. It will be a surprise because I'm pretty sure she's never even heard of the place.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

      I recommend the guano gravy.

It was a beautiful day being on the bay back and forth to the city. It's s beautiful city and we had Thai food that was to die for.

I have a new favorite and that is Miang Kum - tiny shrimp with ginger, orange marmalade, lemon grass, garlic, coconut and peanuts -- and you spoon it onto spinach leaves.

We had that with guyang chicken (which was my favorite before the above discovery) which is marinated charbroiled and dipped in the marinade which is heavy lemon grass, cilantro, sweet rice vinegar & chili oil; I couldn't believe it when my son also ordered roasted duck curry with pineapple, tomatoes and Thai basil (like licorice)

We drove through GG park around to Ocean Beach past what used to be Playland at the Beach (now condos since 1980) and the tacky new Cliff House design- refurbished several times in 146 years.

I must say we didn't even stay to find the museums or what is left of them it is almost unrecognizable (no more Victorian) - what a contrast.

The Cliff House wow. the history of san francisco - it's fascinating but now what. it just has no art anymore - it looks like a beige styrofoam cup.

Built in 1863 burned and rebuilt several times 1890s, 1960s etc
