Anyone Seen Men in Black 3?

Just came back from watching Men in Black 3.

Didn't like it. I was bored.

I thought about leaving in the middle of it and sneaking in to see The Avengers again; but I didn't. That would be wrong.........

So I left MIB3 after about 3/4 of the film and bought an Avengers ticket instead and saw that again.

There were some scenes in the Avengers I had missed the first time I had seen it.

Has anyone seen MIB3? What are your thoughts? I did not care for it.

No, I haven`t seen it, not worth going the buck. But I did see the Avengers, I reccommend it

Avengers was very good and I would see it again in a heartbeat.

I was a little leery about seeing the new Men in Black because the third installment of movie franchises usually sucks.

Sometimes they're pretty good like the 3rd Transformers but most of the time they're horrible like Godfather III. It costs my family almost 70 to go to the movies, I'm not wasting it for those odds.

I'll wait for DVD to show up in RedBox.

I did not like it. But I was very surprised that the theater was not even half full. I thought there was at least going to be a sold out show but the ticket booth lady told me that most families were still going to go see the Avengers.

I wonder what the Box Office numbers say.

To me the film was just a repeat of the first film. The only laugh I got was the same laugh I got in the original film (where they reveal famous individuals secretly living among us as aliens; that was funny). Other than that I was really bored and it was one of the few times I actually walked out on a movie.

        Darn it.
Just when I thought I was out...they pull me back in.

        .

Godfather III was necessary to wrap up the Corleone Saga but like father NOT like daughter. Sophia Coppola set the stage for bad 3rd installments.

What is it with Piranha 3dd? I have heard many references to this movie lately. At first I thought it was a mockbuster (because of it's obvious reference to boobs) but apparently it is an actual film release. I did not realize it was that popular.

Well, I guess I am going to be the odd ball here.

I saw MIB3 with my wife on Saturday and thought it was the best of all 3.

Josh Brolin nailed K. We got to see why K became the way he is.

I guess it really depends what you went to see the movie for. If it was for one
long yuck fest, then yes, you were going to be disappointed, though there were
some very funny parts in it. Will Smith is still brilliant and he and Tommy Lee have
a chemistry that you don't find very often.

The movie was very well made. The plot, though done before in other movies,
was interesting and well executed. The end where J rewinds time in order to
get the jump on Boris was brilliant.

And while everybody is entitled to their opinion, I sometimes have to scratch
my head and wonder if we're all watching the same movie.

Oh well. I guess taste really IS subjective.

I did like Josh. He's an excellent actor and mimicked Tommy Lee very well. I just felt I had seen this before. If this had been the first movie I would have liked it a lot. The visuals were excellent throughout the film. But I just did not have any emotional investment in anything that was going on. I just did not care what happened in terms of the plot or the characters; that's why I walked out on the film. And it also seemed dated; it felt like a late 90s action flick to me.

If this were a TV movie I probably would have enjoyed it as free. But given the price of the movie ticket, it was not worth it for me.

First off, let me say that if you don't like a movie, you don't like a movie.
Nobody, and I mean NOBODY has the right to say that you're wrong to not like
a movie because taste is subjective.

However, this is what puzzles me. You say if it was the first movie
in the series you would have liked it.

Either the movie is good or it's not. If the movie was likable on its own,
barring past productions, why should past productions matter?

It has been so long since I saw MIB and MIB2 that I don't even remember
them...not even one scene. Maybe that's part of the reason I liked this
movie. I knew enough of the history between J and K to appreciate where
            this one was going.

You say you didn't care about the characters or what happened to them.
That's fine. Then how can you say that you would have liked this movie if
it was the first one? Would you have cared about them more having no
            history behind you?

The reason I DID care about this movie was BECAUSE of the history. If you
didn't care about the characters, I have to seriously question how much
you really liked MIB and MIB2.

            Get where I'm coming from?

Thanks It's nothing personal, I just did not like it. Just being honest and sharing my experience.

Because it would have been a pleasant surprise. But I have seen all the cool stuff before and it does not awe me as a "first time experience" would have. I've seen it before in the first movie.

Because it's MIB3 and it's part of the franchise. Even Tarantino mentions, as an example, that the two sequels to the matrix ruined the mythology of the first one. It's part of the experience of the film as a whole. But even if I disregard this, MIB3 as a separate film was still boring to me. And honestly I was not the only one who walked out on the film which was not even half full.

As I mentioned above, the first film was a pleasant surprise with a lot of cool scenes (the border scene, the aliens among us, etc). This one just seemed like a continuation rather than an evolution.

Thanks so much for your comment. Again nothing personal, It was just a film I did not like. But I did actually WANT to like it, which is why I bought the ticket in the first place.

That's cool. Funny thing is, I didn't think I'd like it. I didn't like II as much as
I, though I don't remember either movie much, and figured III would be the
worst. But it surprised me. I think Will and Josh instead of more Will and Tommy
made the difference. It was a slightly different dynamic and getting to see
                K younger was cool.

Maybe if it was more Will and Tommy as before I wouldn't have liked it as
                much.

But like I said, taste is a subjective thing, which is what makes it so
wonderful. For every movie, song, piece of art, TV show or whatever, there
is going to be one person who loves it, likes it, thinks it's meh, or downright
                hates it.

That's what makes the world go round.

I did like Josh. This film does showcase how excellent an actor he really is. Plus he's married to Diane Lane, which to me means he is also one hell of a lucky guy

Loved it... dancing back and forth between dimensions and even touching on subject matter like that is a rare find. Always a Will Smith fan anyway. Will didn't show much macho-firecracker-testosterone-youthful edge though -- almost appeared to have the old-man grunt going on when he ran or bent over. Still -- great storyline, wonderful twist at the end.

I honestly didnt even know that MIB3 was out. I was satisfied with the first 2 movies and have always felt that movie makers are copping out always taking the time travel route with there films as a way to fluff out more content.

I agree with Steven. I enjoyed the movie. I went to see it with my son and didn't expect to really like it. I'm more into "human drama" but my son...not so much. So we often have trouble finding movies we both enjoy. This was one of them.

Thank you for your review! When I saw the previews for MIB 3, I really wanted to go and see it as I absolutely loved the first two. However, after reading the first reviews here, I was disappointed and didn't want to waste my money.

But now, you both have me excited to see it again and I'm going to!

As I said, I loved the first two, as a matter of fact, when I feel like I need a smile, I still go and watch this. I love it.
