Does anyone watch Shark Tank?

I was wondering if many other warriors, besides me, watch Shark Tank on ABC? It's a great, very entertaining show to watch, especially if you're an entrepreneur. The show consists of entrepreneurs pitching their ideas to wealthy investors ("the sharks"). You get to see lots of creative people pitching great business ideas. It's also a really good show because you get to see, from the perspective of a business investor, what makes a business valuable or worth investing in. It's a great show. I don't watch TV, but I make the one exception for this show. I actually just catch up on the episodes from my computer, while I'm doing work. If you enjoy seeing good business ideas, and you want to gain some insight into how multi-millionaires and billionaires think and value businesses, I highly recommend this show.

I have seen some of episodes of this entertaining show. It's one of complete entertainment. I like only natural shows so much. Because these type of shows really unveils naturalism.

  • It's a good lesson in sales and researching your prospect's needs. So many of them have no clue. As one of the sharks said one day, "You have 90 seconds to show how YOU are going to make ME money."

So many inventors/entrepreneurs walk in, explain their idea/product with gusto and then the sharks shoot it full of holes. Some presenters act shocked they are getting push-back. A common response is "that's why I need the sharks. I need your contacts, money, etc" and yet they have no plan what they would do with those resources.

It's also funny to hear them say "I've worked on this for 5 years" like anyone cares. Or they'll say, "If we only capture one half of one percent of this $9 billion market, we've got it made!" I like that one because it always makes one of the sharks mad and they yell "Everyone says that! Your idea sucks!" Good stuff.

Yeah it's good. It's funny how some people present their stuff to the sharks without "getting it." Def an entertaining show, though.

One of my favorite shows. Much better than the apprentice as a show for entrepreneurs.

There has been some interesting discussion of Kevin O'Reilly, eg this comment by Mark McQueen, the president and CEO of Wellington Financial:
    Kevin O

"I've just had a chance to peruse the 2011 financial statements for the various mutual funds and closed end investment vehicles managed by our man Kevin O'Leary, Canada's Rock Star asset gatherer. Across the board, it seems that some investors are starting to walk, briskly, to the exits. By my count, KO's various funds suffered more than $498 million of redemptions in 2011, which works out to be about 24 % of all of the funds under KO management. At that rate, unless he can continue to raise new funds to replace the assets that he's losing, Mr. O'Leary won't have anything left to manage by the time his infamous "Decade of Daddy" comes to an end."

    I watch it every Friday!

The only thing I don't like about it is that some people actually have great ideas but the sharks don't invest in them because they over evaluated the company or some simple things in the business plan need to be changed.

    LOVE LOVE LOVE Shark Tank!!!
(did I mention I love shark tank!!!)

On the plus side I love seeing all the different ideas that people have come up with and trying to figure out which 'shark' will bite. After watching sooooo many shows you get to know them.

On the downside, I just HATE it when I see someones dreams crushed. Althogh have to give them all credit for standing up there in the first place.!!!

Absolutely love Shark Tank. I hate when the show goes into hiatus for the season. I try and catch the reruns. The lady from Daisy Cakes was on today. I remember seeing an update on her company. If you recall Barbara told her that she had to send her $1.00 for every cake she sold until she recouped the $50k investment. Daisy Cakes did that in 3 weeks. Love it!!!!

I love the show. It scares me though because these people come in with their life's work and most get shot down. Then they go on saying, "I won't give up." Idk if they'll make it, though I know some do.

Would love to go on it myself, even if I'd be nervous.

Def a great show!! You can learn a lot about pitching a sale, but more importantly, how and what investors listen for

Btw, I heard Kevin O'Leary is not really a billionaire..
