Firefox's new feature

Must have happened in the last update - now when I open a new tab it's populated with 9 of my bookmarked sites so I can quickly navigate to them. You can click X on the ones you don't want and it chooses another one.

Pretty cool idea. I keep the dashboards to several of my sites there plus the main sites/blogs I read every day.

      Ms. Laura,

Thanks for the observation. Let me ask if all of your add-ons, plugins, etc still work? I do not auto-update. I wait to hear what others have to say.

      Thanks,

So far, so good. I'm having a little trouble with the bookmarks, but that's been happening for a while. They won't stay where I put them.

I had that problem with 12.0, so I upgraded back to 11.0.

Version 13.0 managed to sneak through my guard, but so far everything works fine. The bookmarks stay where you put them, and (the problem I was having), you can move them to somewhere else. They stay there too.

I'd say give v13 a try. If you don't like it go back to 11.0.

So that blind people can hate them as well.

Somehow mine auto-updated whereas before I had to give it permission. Really not sure how that happened, but Firefox has been a pretty good browser, so it stays.

The screen with the nine choices of sites can be clicked close, and I prefer to get my own urls.

Yeah, microsoft word had that MANY years ago. Apparently it is now a feature in windows 7 that some programs, like word and notepad, use. and some browsers keep a history for a time, which is kind of similar.

Regarding plugins, I've had some problems with that. In fact, I upgraded one machine a couple days ago, though I hadn't run it in perhaps a year. The plugins ARE, often maintained by others.

    Hi, Laura:

I keep my FF right up to date, but I have never seen or experienced the bookmark feature you are describing. Perhaps it is a setting that a person can turn on or off?

Personally, I don't think I would want my browser to automatically select and open any bookmarked sites for me. I would find that to be quite annoying.

Well, I'm on a Mac so maybe the two versions aren't exactly the same?

It doesn't really open the bookmarks, just has 9 large thumbnails that you could choose from, and you can decide which 9 appear so it's quicker to get to sites you use daily.

I wasn't aware other browsers already did this - pretty much stick with Firefox unless I'm testing a site display.

    Hi, Laura:

    I stand corrected!

A couple of days ago my FF auto-updated and I now have that feature, too! I didn't think I would like it, but I am giving it a chance to win me over. So far, so good. It's not what I thought it was and it might actually be a convenient thing.

It did seem VERY familiar to me and flowbee77 has reminded me that IE has already been doing this.

SO that's what is going on. I saw the feature but had no clue what triggered it. I scanned my machine just in case, LOL.

Actually, it's a negligible feature as far as I am concerned. I haven't experienced problems with anything else so it can stay I guess. It's not hurting anything.
