Very strange this can it be explained? Here we have footage of the film The Circus, in which we see a lady walking by talking into a cell phone.

If he did, I hope he remembered to invent and build a few cell towers to carry the signal

What you see in the movie is thought to be an early type of hearing aid.

This is the problem with people far in the future looking at this. There is a LOT of evidence that it is NOT a phone!

1. Such a device would be used ONLY in emergencies, and could be VERY dangerous!!!!!!
2. Unless it were a device that STILL hasn't been made, then it would be worthless, as richard points out.
3. NOBODY would dare "speak to themselves" in public, and it would be WORSE if they seemed to be hearing voices.
4. Contemporaries would react.

She could simply have had a pin that was annoying her, or something. Hands would be near worthless to work on such things UNLESS you bent them as he described.

BTW they STILL don't really have a MOBILE PHONE! What we call MOBILE PHONES are more appropriately called CELL PHONES and aren't phones at all. They are transceivers that communicate with radio stations at termination points and THEY patch you through to the phone system. Those radio stations have VERY limited range, and that area is known as a CELL, hence the name.

Cell phones are actually more like walkie talkies than phones.

Could you imagine what could happen if they found a working cell phone back then? YIKES! They might believe aliens created it. They might move away from transitional technologies to make IT. If they DID manage to make the transistor. another country could find out about it, produce it, and win WWII. There are SO many possibilities. You just DON'T want to do such things. THAT is why the Star Trek series has the prime directive.

In star trek, there is an episode where mccoy saves a famous pacifist and she causes late entry of the US into WWII. The NAZIS win, and everyone on the enterprise is STRANDED on a planet! They have to go back, and KEEP her from being saved in order to save the more peaceful world they knew. GRANTED, it is fiction, but it shows how it could clearly happen.

  And l also ran this through photo software, there is a video out there trying to disclaim this, but l tend to believe that the phone idea is more likely!
  
  Here is a close up image of the lady or man.
  
  As some have speculated online it could be her hair, but when you watch the video and add all the elements up, she or he is either a time traveler or someone who escaped and is talking to herself.
  
  I suppose eventhough she/he saw the camera, she thought that it would be about 50 years before anyone would notice.
  
  1985 more or less, first mobile phone, although not very mobile.
  
  And if she was a time traveler, then it would more likely be a walkie talkie with her associates.
  
  And while we are on the subject here is something that l have had on my hard drive collecting dust, that is either a very elaborate hoax or, (when the available evidence is added up) a time traveler.
  
  This was taken from later Apollo missions, but it was there in 1969. So it did happen.
  
  And it goes without saying that if time travel become possible then this would be the most likely event we, or they would visit!

  And the images, l enlarged and cleaned it up as much as possible.
  
  As you can see from the video, it is moving from side to side, proving that it is under intelligent control. Obviously it could be an elaborate hoax by the Russians, etc. But remember this happened in 1969. So a radio controlled model, is pushing it!
  
  If this is us, then we could have viable time travel in 100 to 300 years.

  Hey before cell phones...people used to talk to themselves all the time! That's how you knew who the CrAzIes were!
  Now...with bluetooth - you can't be so sure - they just 'might' be crazy...(more so than not) :rolleyes:

You silly...Everybody knows Leonard DaVinci invented the cell phone...

Shortly after inventing the electric guitar...(Pete Townshend would later perfect the 'flying windmill')
(course, he didn't have easy access to electricity, so that was a glitch)

But, curiously enough...
The actress Hedy Lamarr did have a hand in the development of wireless technology...

I didn't see the "cell phone". All I saw was a person walking with their hand close to their head with their fingers curled in a manner similar to how someone would grasp a phone. I didn't see any phone.

There's nothing amazing about this. I could sit here and think of a thousand reasons as to why the person had their hand up to their head.

As for her talking to herself? WHO KNOWS? She could be talking to someone else, singing, cursing, OR testing out a hearing aid! WHO KNOWS?

  Yep, unfortunately you are probably right! She probably had one of these....

  And was speaking into it to see it it worked, before she spent her money on the Chaplin film.
  
  And as others have said, when she realized she was being filmed, she didn't really react too much! Even thought talking to yourself in public was a no-no.
  
  Oh, well fun while it lasted, but the Apollo UFO, is a lot tougher to explain away!
